Tourist Tax

Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain is going to raise its Daily Tourist Tax called “Impuesto sobre las Estancias en Establecimientos Turísticos.”

This in on top of the Catalonia Regional Tourist Tax.

 

Currently the Daily Tourist Tax (with both the Barcelona City Tax and the Catalonia Regional Tax) are:

6.75 Euros ($7.35 US Dollars) a day for 5 Star Hotel, Luxury Camping

4.95 Euros ($5.39 US Dollars) a day for 4 Star Hotel

4.25 Euros ($4.63 US Dollars) a day for Other Accommodation

5.50 Euros ($5.99 US Dollars) a day for Tourist Rental Accommodation

5.25 Euros ($5.72 US Dollars)  a day for Cruise Ship Stay over 12 hrs

6.25 Euros ($6.81 US Dollars) a day for Cruise Ship Stay less than 12 hrs

 

I won’t mind paying a Tourist Tax for anyplace I went to visit as long as the Tourist Tax went to the right places (like Public Parks, Public Beaches, Public Museums, Public Monuments, Airports, Train Stations, etc.)  - places that Tourists visit to help keep them clean and safe for Tourists and Locals.

Note: There are Tourist Taxes in: Rome, Italy; Venice, Italy; Greece, Bali, Indonesia, etc.

 

Also, many Countries around the World have either an Arrival, Transit or a Departure Tax added to Flights, Ferries, Trains, etc. (Not including Local or Regional Taxes or Visa Fees):

Australia: $60 Australian Dollars ($45 US Dollars.)

Austria: 12 Euro ($14 US Dollars)

Bangladesh: 500 Takka ($6.03 US Dollars)

Bermuda: $35 US Dollars

Belize: By Land: $20 US Dollars, by Air: $18.75 US Dollars for Foreigners and $8.75 for Belizeans.

Canada: $30 US Dollars

Germany: €12.88 or $13.64 US Dollars (band A Countries) / €32.62 or $35.54 US Dollars (band B Countries) / €58.73 or $62.19 US Dollars all other Countries

Guyana: $19 US Dollars

Honduras: $37.50 US Dollars

Hong Kong: Air: $120 Hong Kong Dollars ($15.37 US Dollars) and Ferry: $18 Hong Kong Dollars ($2.31 US Dollars)

Iran: $8.50 US Dollars

Jamaica: $35 US Dollars

Japan: $9 US Dollars

Lebanon: $33.17 for Economy Class Passengers, $73 for Business Class Passengers and  $100 for First Class Passengers

Malaysia: Within ASEAN: $2 US Dollars for Economy Class Passengers and $12.50 US Dollars for Other Classes Passengers. Outside ASEAN: $5 US Dollars for Economy Class Passengers and $37.50 US Dollars for Other Class Passengers.

Mexico: 1,160 Pesos ($65 US Dollars)

The Netherlands: $31.56 US Dollars

Palau: $50 US Dollars

Panama: $40 US Dollars

The Philippines; Between $54 US Dollars and $6 US Dollars

Samoa: $30 US Dollars

Saudi Arabia: %$23.20 US Dollars

Sri Lanka: $60 US Dollars

Sweden: $6.50 US Dollars for European Destinations, $27 US Dollars for Medium Rage Destinations and $43.10 US Dollars for Long Range Destinations

Thailand: $33 US Dollars

Tunisia: $21 US Dollars

Turkey: 150 Lira ($5 US Dollars)

The United Kingdom: Between £194 Pounds ($240 US Dollars) and £13 Pounds ($16 US Dollars)

Note: The United States charges $5.60 US Dollars one way for any plane that takes off from a US Airport.
