Windsor Tree

From People:

“Christmas at Windsor Castle! See the Holiday Decorations Go Up in Meghan and Harry's Wedding Reception Space”

Windsor Castle has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland. The royal residence — where Queen Elizabeth spent the final years of her life and where Kate Middleton and Prince William frequently hold meetings as their family home is located nearby — is dressed up for the holidays. The Royal Collection Trust shared new photos and videos on Thursday of ornately decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and garlands in St. George's Hall, where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had their royal wedding reception and memorably introduced their son Prince Archie, now 4, to the world. This year's holiday decorations include nods to King Charles and Queen Camilla's coronation, which took place in May.

The centerpiece of the festive display is a 20-foot-high Nordmann Fir tree in St. George's Hall, grown nearby in Windsor Great Park. This year, it was topped with a specially commissioned Garter Star to commemorate the 675th anniversary of the Order of the Garter, the oldest order of chivalry in Britain. Another Christmas tree topped with a Garter Star will be in the Crimson Drawing Room, one of the most elaborate rooms in the Castle. Part of the semi-state rooms that were created as private apartments for King George IV, these rooms on the east side of the residence are still used by members of the royal family for official entertaining. It's believed that Christmas trees have been sourced from the park for Windsor Castle since the reign of Queen Victoria (1837–1901).

The 160-foot-long dining table in the Waterloo Chamber is decorated with porcelain from the Garter Service, which takes place at Windsor Castle each June, and garlands on the Grand Staircase will welcome visits into the State Apartments. The decorations continue outside, where wreaths and foliage cover the gates and lampposts on the castle grounds.

The Christmas magic at Windsor Castle will be on display until Jan 1. On select dates in December, local school and community choirs will perform carols beneath the Christmas tree in St. George's Hall. Christmas is a special time of year for members of the royal family. In addition to their annual walk to church on Christmas Day (followed by lunch at Sandringham House and watching King Charles' Christmas speech broadcast), they have another event to look forward to: Princess Kate's third annual carol concert at Westminster Abbey on Dec. 8.

This year's event is linked to the Princess of Wales' Shaping Us campaign and organized to “thank all those who work to support babies, young children and families in our communities across the U.K. and a celebration of the golden opportunity that the birth of a new baby brings,” the palace said. Westminster Abbey, where Prince William and Princess Kate married in 2011, will light up with performances by its renowned choir plus musical guests Adam Lambert, Beverley Knight, Jacob Collier, Freya Ridings and James Bay.

Rockefeller Tree

From NY Daily News:

“PHOTOS: 2023 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony”

People gathered inside Rockefeller Center for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in New York City on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023. This year's 80-foot Norway Spruce comes from Vestal, N.Y. Its lighting marks the beginning of the holiday season in the Big Apple.

100% Illegal

Today (November 30, 2023) the Russian Supreme Court reaffirmed Vladimir Putin’s Law that Homosexually is 100% Illegal throughout Russia and the Russian-Occupied Territory of Ukraine.

In 1716 Czar Peter the Great banned Gays from serving in the Czarist Military.

Being Gay (but not a Lesbian) was made illegal in Czarist Russia in 1832 under Czar Nicholas I’s Article 995 of the Czarist Criminal Code, which stated that "Muzhelozhstvo", or Men lying with Men, was a Criminal Act punishable by exile to Siberia for up to 5 years.

Being Homosexual was legal during the Kerensky Democratic Government from February-October 1917.

Being Homosexual was legal in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic from 1917-1922.

Being Homosexual was legal in the Soviet Union from 1922-1934.

Being Homosexual was made illegal in the Soviet Union from 1934 until 1991 - by Stalin’s  Article 121 of the Soviet Criminal Code punished "Muzhelozhstvo" with imprisonment for up to 5 years in a Gulag for Men. Lesbians were sent to Mental Institutions.

Being Gay (but not a Lesbian) was illegal in Russia from 1991-1993.

From 1934 to 1993 at least 250,000 Gay Soviet Men were sent to prison, the Gulag or a Mental Institution. The number is much higher, but most Gays were sent to Prison for other offenses which were recorded first rather than for simply being Gay.

In 1993 being Gay was made legal in Russia and those imprisoned were released.

On January 1, 1999, Homosexuality was removed from the Official Russian List of Diseases. At the same time, Homosexuals received the right to serve in the Army (All Russian Men have to serve in the Military.)

Gay Soldiers experience higher than normal Dedovshchina (Russian: дедовщина) – the practice of Older Recruits performing violent and sometimes deadly physical and psychological abuse, bullying or torture, including sexual torture and anal rape on Younger Recruits.

In 2013, "The Law on Propaganda of Non-Traditional Sexual Relationships to Minors" made it illegal to be Homosexual in Russia in certain Professions (Teacher, Professor, Coach, Politician, Nurse, Doctor, etc.)

In 2020 Putin’s Amendment to Russia's Constitution banned Same-Sex Marriage.

In 2022 Putin’s expansion to the 2013 Propaganda Law made it illegal to be Homosexual in all Civil Professions.

Being Homosexual has been illegal throughout Russia since November 30, 2023 when the Russian Supreme Court agreed with Putin that Homosexuality should be illegal.

Gay Man are sent to fight in Ukraine laying landmines or spend 15 years in Forced Labor Penal Colonies.

As in Czarist Times and Soviet Times Putin’s Russia uses Homosexuals and Jews as the Scapegoats for all the problems inside Russia (ie. how 328,000 Russian Soldiers have been killed inside Ukraine since February 2022 – 645 days, etc.)

I’m not Gay, but I stand with the Russian Homosexuals the same way I’m not Jewish, but I stand with the Israel and I’m not a Woman, but I stand with Women and I’m not Ukrainian, but I stand with Ukraine.

Aid Helps US

From Politico:

“Bombenomics: Biden admin circulates map showing states that benefit from Ukraine aid”

Battleground states Pennsylvania and Arizona are reaping billions of dollars from Washington’s efforts to arm Ukraine, according to a graphic the Biden administration has circulated on Capitol Hill. The circulation of the graphic is part of the administration’s push to sell the American public — and their congressional representatives — on President Joe Biden’s proposal to spend billions of additional taxpayer dollars on the wars in Ukraine and Israel. During an Oval Office address last month, Biden highlighted the benefit to U.S. manufacturing centers when making the case that Republicans should support the $60 billion for Ukraine contained in the $106 billion emergency supplemental. A faction of GOP members has fought further funding, arguing that the U.S. is spending money to help Ukraine rather than focusing on problems at home. “Let me be clear about something,” Biden said. “We send Ukraine equipment sitting in our stockpiles. And when we use the money allocated by Congress, we use it to replenish our own stores, our own stockpiles with new equipment.” “Equipment that defends America and is made in America. Patriot missiles for air defense batteries, made in Arizona. Artillery shells manufactured in 12 states across the country, in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas. And so much more,” he said. “You know, just as in World War II, today patriotic American workers are building the arsenal of democracy and serving the cause of freedom.”

POLITICO reported last month that the White House was switching up its messaging after running into continued resistance on Capitol Hill, after determining that selling the war funding effort based on national security wasn’t changing minds. According to the map, obtained by POLITICO, Pennsylvania has received $2.364 billion in investments to build munitions and tactical vehicles for Ukraine, the most of any state. Meanwhile, Arizona is a close second with $2.259 billion. Texas and Arkansas received $1.449 billion and $1.478 billion, respectively, while Florida got $1.011 billion.

In total, the states have enjoyed more than $27 billion in investments from arming Ukraine, according to the graphic, the existence of which was first reported by Reuters. A Defense Department spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the map. The administration last month sent lawmakers the supplemental request, which includes money for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and border security. While congressional bickering has delayed the bill’s passage, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has promised to vote on it as soon as the week of Dec. 4.

Resistance to further Ukraine aid has grown among House Republicans, with some lawmakers turning against new funding over concerns about the proposal’s price tag and the endgame of the conflict. Rep. Mike Garcia (R-Calif.), an appropriator at the center of the GOP supplemental debate, is circulating a memo to make the case for a slimmed-down funding package focused solely on providing munitions and other weapons Ukraine needs to turn the tide. He estimates the cost of those weapons at $15-20 billion for fiscal 2024, well below Biden’s request. Garcia said he agrees with the arguments for ramping up the industrial base. But his memo recommends splitting funding for replenishing Pentagon inventories and building up the defense industry from Ukraine spending, arguing they are two distinct efforts and would be more politically palatable to skeptical Republicans individually. "The reality is that if we're paying aerospace and defense companies to tool up for enhanced capacity, that is a fight against China,” Garcia said. “That's a fight that supplies our DOD and not Ukraine.” Asked about the map, Garcia hailed its emphasis on the industrial base as “something they should be doing,” but accused the administration of not having a strategy or keeping it ambiguous. Without that, he said, Republican skeptics of Ukraine aid won’t change their minds. “If you don't have the answers … just selling this as a, you know, funding more jobs in your district thing is not going to work,” he said.

^ Here is how American Aid to Ukraine is ALSO helping the American People.

The Federal Government gives American Dollars to Ukraine on the condition that Ukraine uses that money to buy American Weapons from American Companies across the US.

The Federal Government gives older American Military Equipment to Ukraine and then replenishes the US Military by buying new, more modern Equipment from American Companies across the US.

It is a Win-Win for both the Americans and the Ukrainians. ^

Kissinger Recap

I wrote this on May 27, 2023 when he turned 100:

Henry Kissinger turns 100 today.

Born Heinz Alfred Kissinger on May 27, 1923 in Furth, Germany.

(In 1973)

In 1938, when he was 15 years old, he fled Nazi Germany because of the Anti-Jewish Pogroms there.

He became and American Citizen in 1943.

In 1943 he was Drafted into the US Army where he was assigned to Military Intelligence (because of his Fluency in German.)

He received the Bronze Star for helping to track down Gestapo Officers.

He then went to Harvard and studied Political Science.

From 1956 to 1958, He worked for the Rockefeller Brothers Fund as Director of its Special Studies Project.  He served as the Director of the Harvard Defense Studies Program between 1958 and 1971. In 1958, he also Co-Founded the Center for International Affairs with Robert R. Bowie where he served as its Associate Director.

Outside of Academia, he served as a Consultant to several Government Agencies and Think Tanks, including the Operations Research Office, the Arms Control and Disarmament Agency, Department of State, and the RAND Corporation.

He left Academia and joined the Policial World where many of his actions or inactions have become Controversial.

He was the President’s National Security Advisor from 1969-to 1975 for both Nixon and Ford.

He was also Secretary of State from 1973-1977 (again for both Nixon and Ford.)

He was directly involved in the US War in Vietnam:

He leaked Information on Johnson’s Peace Negotiations with North Vietnam (which Kissinger was part of) to the Nixon Presidential Campaign in 1968.

He was involved in the Vietnamization of the Vietnam War – which meant to train and equip the South Vietnamese so they could fight the North Vietnamese themselves and the American Soldiers could leave.

He advised expanding the Vietnam War by the American Bombing of Cambodia from 1969-1973.

He circumvented the 1970 Cooper–Church Amendment (which ended American Troops fighting by land or air in Cambodia or Laos.)

In 1971 he failed in getting the publication of the Pentagon Papers stopped. The Pentagon Papers were Classified Government Documents that detailed America’s Involvement in South Vietnam, North Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos from 1947-1967 and were released by Daniel Ellsberg.

In February 1972 Kissinger helped Nixon to semi-recognize the People’s Republic of China (Communist China) for the first time since 1948. Official Recognition came in 1979. Nixon visited Mao in Beijing in 1972.

Kissinger wanted China’s help to end America’s Fight in Vietnam since China helped North Vietnam.

He called for the Christmas Bombing of North Vietnam in 1972 to force the North Vietnamese to the Negotiation Table.

He negotiated the end of America’s Direct Military Involvement in the Vietnam War with the Paris Peace Agreement in January 1973. The last US Soldier left South Vietnam in April 1973.

He won the 1973 Nobel Peace Prize along with North Vietnamese Le Duc Tho.

After Nixon resigned in August 1974 he stayed on as Ford’s Advisor.

On April 12, 1975 he instructed the US Ambassador to Cambodia, Ambassador John Gunther Dean to evacuate all Americans and Cambodians that helped America before the Khmer Rouge took Phnom Penh.

Known as Operation Eagle Pull it evacuated 84 US Citizens and 205 Cambodian and Third Country Nationals from Phnom Penh to American Warships.

As Secretary of State Kissinger ordered the US Embassy in Cambodia closed on April 12, 1975.

The Communist Khmer Rouge took over Phnom Penh and all of Cambodia on April 17, 1975 and started the Cambodian Genocide (where they murdered 2 Million Civilians until 1979.)

On April 15, 1975, with the North Vietnamese on the outskirts of Saigon, he testified to the Senate Appropriations Committee, urging Congress to increase Military Aid to South Vietnam – which was denied.

On April 20, 1975 he instructed US Ambassador to South Vietnam, Graham Martin, to start preparing to evacuate all American Citizens and the South Vietnamese that helped America before the North Vietnamese took Saigon.

Known as Operation Frequent Wind it evacuated 50,493 people (including 2,678 South Vietnamese Orphans) by Plane and 1,373 Americans and 5,595 Vietnamese and Third Country Nationals by Helicopter from Saigon to American Warships from April 29-30, 1975.

As Secretary of State Kissinger ordered the closure of the US Embassy in Saigon, South Vietnam on April 30, 1975 (400 Civilians including 49 Americans and 100 South Koreans were abandoned at the US Embassy and captured by the North Vietnamese who didn’t let them leave Vietnam until August 1976.)

The North Vietnamese Communists captured Saigon and all of South Vietnam on April 30, 1975. The Country was reunited into a Communist Country on July 3, 1976. The Vietnamese Communists sent 1 Million Former South Vietnamese to Re-Education Camps from 1975-1989 where they were starved, tortured and murdered.

Non-Vietnam War Related:

In 1971 he supported Pakistan against the Bangladeshis during the Bangladesh War For Independence even when it became publicly known that the Pakistanis were carrying out an Official Genocide against the Bangladeshis. From March – December 1971 Pakistan murdered 3 Million Bangladeshi Men, Women and Children.

Kissinger helped Nixon send Sanctioned Military Supplies to Pakistan through Jordan and Iran.

The US was on the losing side as Pakistan eventually recognized their loss and Bangladesh’s Independence in 1971.

Kissinger used the policy of Détente (relaxation) with the Soviet Union from 1969 until the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan in 1979.

Kissinger refused to officially stand-up to the Soviets in support of their Official Discrimination against Soviet Jews (Refuseniks) in the 1960s-1970s.

Agreements and Meetings between the US and the USSR at this time included the:

1972 Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty

The Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT) 1 in 1972.

The Biological Weapons Convention of 1972.

The Washington Summit of 1973 (where The Agreement on the Prevention of Nuclear War was signed.)

The Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe (CSCE) – where the Helsinki Accords were signed in 1975.)

Non-Détente Related:

In 1971 Kissinger renewed the American Base Lease on the Azores in exchange for recognizing the Dictatorship of the Estado Novo – that ruled Portugal until 1974.

In 1971 Kissinger supported Zaire’s Dictator Mobutu Sese Seko who ruled until 1997.

In May 1972 Iran (under the Shah) ended diplomatic relations with Iraq. Kissinger offered Iran America’s Military Supplies and Financial Support – helping to make the Shah more of a Dictator inside Iran.

During the 1973 Yom Kippur War between Israel and Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Kuwait, Tunisia, Cuba, Morocco and Sudan Kissinger created Operation Nickel Grass that shipped 22,325 tons of American tanks, artillery, ammunition and supplies to Israel in 32 days.

This Aid led to OPEC’s 1973 Oil Crisis in the US where gas across the country was rationed.

Kissinger helped end JFK’s Alliance for Progress in Latin America (started in 1961) in 1973.

Kissinger supported 1973 Chilean Coup d'état which got rid of the Democratically Elected Government of President Salvador Allende and installed the Dictator Augusto Pinochet which lasted until 1990 and saw 30,000 Victims including 2,279 “Disappeared.

During Turkey’s Invasion of Cyprus in 1974 Kissinger refused to intervene (even after the US Ambassador to Cyprus, Rodger Davies, was murdered in Nicosia, Cyprus on August 19, 1974.

After Nixon’s Resignation:

(in 2023)

In December 1974 Kissinger sided with Indonesia when it invaded and occupied the Former Portuguese Territory of East Timor. East Timor was occupied until 1999 with 300,000 East Timorese dead.

In 1975, Kissinger encouraged Morocco in taking over the Former Spanish Territory of Western Sahara (which it still does.)

In 1976 Kissinger supported the Dirty War in Argentina’s Military Junta. 30,000 People were murdered or “Disappeared” until it ended in 1983.

In 1976 Kissinger got involved in the Rhodesian Bush War and tried to hasten the Country’s Transition to Black-Majority Rule (which happened in 1980.)

In 1977, Kissinger helped create the Torrijos–Carter Treaties with Panama (which returned the Panama Canal Zone to Panama in 1999.)

He left Political Office in 1977 and has worked to convince Americans and the World of his achievements ever since (many consider what he did and didn’t do very controversial.)

Personal:

Kissinger married Anneliese "Ann" Fleischer (Born in 1925 in Furth, Germany)  on February 6, 1949. They had two Children, Elizabeth and David, and divorced in 1964.

On March 30, 1974, he married Nancy Maginnes. They now live in Kent, Connecticut, and in New York City.

Henry Kissinger

From Reuters:

“Henry Kissinger, American diplomat and Nobel winner, dead at 100”

Henry Kissinger, a controversial Nobel Peace Prize winner and diplomatic powerhouse whose service under two presidents left an indelible mark on U.S. foreign policy, died on Wednesday, according to Kissinger Associates Inc. Kissinger died at his home in Connecticut, Kissinger Associates said. Kissinger had been active past his centenary, attending meetings in the White House, publishing a book on leadership styles, and testifying before a Senate committee about the nuclear threat posed by North Korea. In July 2023 he made a surprise visit to Beijing to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In the 1970s, he had a hand in many of the epoch-changing global events of the decade while serving as secretary of state under Republican President Richard Nixon. The German-born Jewish refugee's efforts led to the diplomatic opening of China, landmark U.S.-Soviet arms control talks, expanded ties between Israel and its Arab neighbors, and the Paris Peace Accords with North Vietnam. Kissinger's reign as the prime architect of U.S. foreign policy waned with Nixon's resignation in 1974. Still, he continued to be a diplomatic force under President Gerald Ford and to offer strong opinions throughout the rest of his life.

While many hailed Kissinger for his brilliance and broad experience, others branded him a war criminal for his support for anti-communist dictatorships, especially in Latin America. In his latter years, his travels were circumscribed by efforts by other nations to arrest or question him about past U.S. foreign policy. His 1973 Peace Prize - awarded jointly to North Vietnam's Le Duc Tho, who would decline it - was one of the most controversial ever. Two members of the Nobel committee resigned over the selection and questions arose about the U.S. secret bombing of Cambodia.

^ He definitely shaped the US and the World from the 1960s-1980s ^

Project Chimps

From Project Chimps’ Website:

Project Chimps provides lifelong care to former research chimpanzees at its 230+ acre forested sanctuary in the Blue Ridge Mountains. With your donations you can help get them from the lab to their forever home.

Project Chimps is the newest chimpanzee sanctuary in the United States and was founded to provide lifelong exemplary care to 200 former research chimpanzees at its sanctuary on 230+ acres of forested land in the Blue Ridge Mountains of north Georgia. Today, Project Chimps is home to 95 chimpanzees and we are working to move nearly 100 more to permanent sanctuary. The sanctuary is occasionally open to the public for special events and group tours.

There are currently 95 chimps living at the Project Chimps sanctuary.

Do you know these chimp facts?

Chimpanzees are “great apes.” The other great apes are bonobos, gorillas, orangutans, and humans.

Chimpanzees and humans share approximately 95% of their DNA; old studies reported a 98% match but a study in 2002 showed that a 5% divergence is more accurate. Chimpanzees are more closely related to humans than they are to gorillas!

Chimpanzees are endemic to the forests and savannahs of equatorial Africa. Their current range spans 21 African countries.

Chimpanzees are endangered due to habitat loss and hunting. Scientists estimate there are between 170,000 and 300,000 chimpanzees currently living in the wild.

According to the Project ChimpCare census, there are approximately 2,000 chimpanzees in the United States. At one time, the majority of these chimpanzees lived in laboratories, but today there are more chimpanzees living in sanctuaries than any other captive setting!

Chimpanzees can live up to 45 years in the wild and up to 60 years in captivity.

Baby chimpanzees can be identified by their small size and a tuft of white hair on their backside that disappears when they reach adolescence.

Chimpanzees are frugivores, which means their main food staple is fruit. They also eat leaves, nuts, seeds, birds’ eggs, and insects. Some groups of chimpanzees hunt and eat colobus monkeys and other small mammals. Learn about the diet we provide in sanctuary.

Dr. Jane Goodall discovered tool use by wild chimpanzees in 1960 when she observed a chimpanzee using blades of grass to extract termites from a termite mound. Chimpanzees have also been observed using stones to crack open nuts and using sticks to extract honey from bee hives. See how we built a termite mound.

At night, chimpanzees build sleeping nests in trees using carefully-selected branches and leaves. Watch how the chimps build nests in sanctuary.

Chimpanzees live in fission-fusion societies - large communities of up to a few hundred chimpanzees, with smaller subgroups that break off from the community temporarily. Read our Blog series on how we facilitate building these families.

Chimpanzees communicate using gestures, facial expressions, and vocalizations. They show affection for one another by embracing, touching hands, and even kissing. Chimpanzees laugh when they play. You can learn to "speak" chimpanzee in this video.

Chimpanzees should never be pets.

They are dangerous because of their impressive strength and unpredictable behavior, and their complex social and emotional needs cannot be met in human homes.

Borders Closed

 From the BBC:

“Finland to close entire Russian border after migrant surge”

Finland is closing all crossings on the Russian border after accusing Moscow of deliberately helping migrants into the country. Seven of eight road posts have already shut over a rise in crossings this month. The government now says the last, located in the Arctic Circle, will close on Thursday for two weeks. Around 900 asylum seekers entered Finland from Russia in November, up from fewer than one a day on average. They come from countries including Morocco, Pakistan and Syria, authorities say. Finland is "determined to put an end to the crossings", Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said in a statement. The government says Russia is channelling asylum seekers towards Finland in what it calls an "influence operation" and "hybrid attack" - and has responded by progressively closing more and more border posts. Raja-Jooseppi was the last road crossing to remain open, but it too will be closed by Friday. A rail crossing will remain open for freight traffic. Only three migrants crossed into Finland through Raja-Jooseppi on Monday and zero on Tuesday, but the government said it was taking no chances with what it characterised as a threat to national security. Finland's non-discrimination ombudsman has raised concerns that Helsinki is jeopardising the right to seek asylum under international law - especially as the last remaining border crossing was around 900km (560 miles) north of the capital. The Finnish government says people arriving by boat and air can still seek asylum.

Finland accuses Russia of aiding migrant crossings Speaking to the BBC, Matti Pitkaniitty, a colonel in the Finnish border guard, said legal concerns over maintaining Finland's obligations under international refugee law were "definitely" a reason for the progressive closure of the border. Col Pitkaniitty said border guards had noticed clear evidence of Russian officials helping migrants cross into Finland, such as instances where Russian border points were closed after people crossed to prevent them returning. Pia Lindfors, executive director of the Finnish Refugee Advice Centre, told the BBC that she feared the decision would push asylum seekers to cross away from official crossing points, through the hundreds of kilometres of forests and rivers making up the long border. "Now winter has arrived, this could be even more dangerous," Ms Lindfors said. She added that despite the closures, Finnish authorities should provide help to people in need on the Russian side of the border and not push people crossing illegally back into Russia. "I have to trust that Finnish border guards will not break these fundamental principles," Ms Lindfors said.

Besides getting free on-the-spot access (with no advanced appointment) for Government Ministries, Schools, Universities, Hospitals, Jails, Factories, Business, Private Charities, etc. I was also regularly invited by random people to their apartments.

It sounds strange to say now, but when I was in Russia (all 5 times) I would get stopped in my School, in a Store, on the Street or on Public Transportation and be asked, by complete Strangers, to come to their apartment so their Family could meet an American.

If I went to their apartment I would meet their Family (Grandparents, Parents, Children, Brothers, Sisters) as well as their Neighbors. Typically I would sit in their Living Room while Lunch or Dinner was hurriedly prepared for me – I couldn’t say “No” to eating their food or drinking their Vodka as it’s a sign of disrespect.

I would get asked all sorts of questions as though I was an Alien just off of a UFO. The majority of Russians have long heard about Americans, but outside of Moscow they have rarely seen any in-person. It didn’t matter if there was a Language Barrier or what Political Event had just happened between the US and Russia – I was treated very warmly and like a King.

I also kept a small box of chocolates and a small American Souvenir in my School Bag because of these visits – since Russian Tradition dictates you bring a Host a Gift. I always had mu camera with me too.

It was a major Culture Shock when I returned to the US and no one cared who I was and didn’t treat me so special.

It wasn’t all so pleasant.

I wasn’t allowed to leave Russia to go to my Grandmother’s Funeral. I had a Russian Student Entry Visa and Registration and my Russian Sponsor needed to apply for my Russian Student Exit Visa a month before I wanted to leave Russia – by the time I would get my Exit Visa the Funeral was long over.

I had to deal with the Local Police when the Boyfriend of my Friend tried to break down the outer door of my apartment (Russian apartments have a sturdy metal outer door and a cheap wooden inner door – because of all the crime.) I also had to call the 24 Hour Emergency Hotline at the US Embassy in Moscow to let them know what was happening and to have an American Official speak with both the Local Yaroslavl Police and later, the FSB.

The Boyfriend had been married a Woman in my Friend’s University Group and they divorced after this affair. He, like many Russian Men, continued to feel insecure because they were no longer seen as a threat to the World – after the USSR Collapse – and the fact that Russian Women tend to prefer American and Western Men over Russian Men. He had connections with the Local Police and so didn’t go to jail, but I did have it on the List at the US Embassy in Moscow so he wouldn’t be allowed to apply for a US Visa – a year after I left Russia the last time I had him taken off the List.

Since I was a Foreigner, I had to deal with the FSB for this case too. The FSB is the modern-day version of the KGB. I pretended I didn’t speak Russian well (even though I was completely fluent in it) and not one of them speak English so they had to have a Translator on the phone from Moscow. So, because of this incident and that stupid Guy I now have a FSB File.

On Victory Day (May 9th) I was watching the Military Parade on Soviet Square and someone heard me speaking a Language other than Russian and thought I was a German and came up and spit in my face for having caused the Great Patriotic War (what the Russians call World War 2.)

I told them I was American and that the US and the USSR were Allies fighting together during the War. The Guy then apologized and told the crowd that was coming to his defense (despite the fact that I was the one being screamed at and spitted on) to leave me alone. He wanted to buy me a drink at a Café and I turned him down.

Being in Russia I saw my first dead body. I was walking to my School and a dead body was lying on the street. The Russian Passersby simply ignored the body and walked around it (Russians are good at “not seeing” what is right in front of them.) I stopped to make sure the Guy wasn’t breathing and used my cell phone to call the Ambulance.

It was also in Russia that I saw someone get killed (my 2nd dead body.) I was walking in Moscow and heard a loud crack and people scatter. Ice was falling from a tall building and hit a Woman walking on the sidewalk near me. The ice crushed into her head and killed her instantly. Falling Ice was a constant and major issue when I was in Russia in Winter.

It was also in Russia that I saw Neo-Nazis in Saint Petersburg attack a Guy from Central Asia. I was on a bus going to Peterhof Palace outside the city and saw 8 Skin Heads beating up the Guy with clubs and their fists. I didn’t see how it ended because the bus continued on.

It was in Russia that I experienced Anti-Semitism. I went to a Synagogue. In 1997 it had been bombed by Neo-Nazis and so they were now very careful on who they let in. They didn’t trust my Russian Girlfriend (who was also my Translator since I didn’t speak Russian fluently the first time I visited) and asked me not to have her come anymore. They eventually found an English Speaker and I later learned Russian.

One day, while coming out of the Synagogue and heading to the Public Transport to go home I was followed by 3 Guys. They stopped me and asked if I was a “Yid” (in Russian.) I told them I was Catholic – they didn’t understand what that was even when I said it in fluent Russian so I started crossing and bowing three times as Russian Orthodox Christians do and they patted my back and walked away.

I have seen firsthand what the Russians call the “Russian Soul” (русская душа.) I have seen the good and the bad of the Russian Government and the Russian People.

Sadly, the same People who treated me so nicely and like a King are also the same People who murder innocent Men, Women and Children in Ukraine and don't think twice about it.

White House Christmas

From Insider/Yahoo:

“Jill Biden's White House Christmas decorations include 98 trees, 142,425 holiday lights, and tributes to fallen soldiers."

The White House unveiled its 2023 Christmas decorations, themed "Magic, Wonder, and Joy." Chosen by Jill Biden, the theme is inspired by how children experience the holiday season. The decorations feature tributes to bedtime stories and sweets as well as White House history. First lady Jill Biden unveiled the 2023 White House Christmas decorations on Monday, centered around the theme "Magic, Wonder, and Joy." "The 2023 White House holiday theme is inspired by how children experience this festive season: completely present in the beauty and bounty around them, their senses alight, with hearts open to the magic, wonder, and joy of the holidays," the president and first lady wrote in a welcome letter in the 2023 White House Holiday Guide. "In this season of reflection and goodwill, we hope you will embrace your inner child and delight in simply being present with those you love." As part of the first lady's Joining Forces initiative supporting military families, National Guard families were the first to tour the White House Christmas decorations on Monday.

^ Some of these are nice, but I don’t care for a lot of the decorations this year. ^

Free Gaza From Hamas!

From Facebook:

“Let's learn the facts about the Gaza Strip:”

Amit Arad Wrote:

Israel conquered the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula in 1967 from Egypt. Yes, from Egypt, in case anyone thought for a moment that it was "Palestinian" territory, in a war that broke out against the backdrop of the alliance between Egypt and Syria with the aim of destroying Israel.

In the peace agreement with Egypt in 1979, Egypt refused to take back the Gaza Strip.

In the Oslo Accords of 1995, the Palestinian Authority received autonomy over most of the Gaza Strip, which included all the Arab settlements in the Strip.

Subsequently, Israel completely left the Gaza Strip in 2005, and it then came under the full control of the Palestinian Authority.

Since 2006, the Gaza Strip has been controlled by Hamas after a combination of elections, military takeover, and the elimination and murder of members of the Palestinian Authority.

Since 2006, Hamas has economically and militarily controlled Gaza, collecting taxes, managing all international aid and funds from Arab countries while investing most resources and funds solely in military development:

no factories,

no improvement and development of desperately needed water, sewage, and electricity infrastructures in Gaza,

no advanced studies,

no civilian industry.

What does Hamas do?!

Yes to the weapons industry and an immense stockpiling of missiles and rockets,

yes to endless combat tunnels which could have been used to build and rehabilitate all of Gaza's infrastructures,

yes to luxurious lives for Hamas leaders living abroad, yes to a blood covenant with Iran and striving for the destruction of the State of Israel,

yes to financing terrorists and terror attacks from Gaza and from Judea and Samaria,

yes to smuggling industry and black market at the expense of the citizens of Gaza.

Since 2007 and intermittently to this day, Gaza under Hamas has been firing missiles and rockets at cities and communities in Israel.

As a result, every few years Israel is forced to launch a military operation against Gaza, while in between there are cease-fire agreements that are quickly violated by Gaza with the renewal of missile and rocket fire towards Israel.

The peak of the attacks from Gaza occurred on October 7, 2023, when thousands of armed people invaded from Gaza into Israel, attacked about 20 civilian settlements, murdered 1,400 Israelis, raped and maimed with cruelty, and kidnapped 240 children, women, and elderly. This attack, which constitutes a war crime according to international law and by which Israel is entitled to retaliate, indeed forced Israel to strike Gaza again.

The Gaza Strip has shared borders with Israel and Egypt. Since 2007, when it realized that Hamas was striving to destroy it, Israel has been preventing the entry of weapons into the Gaza Strip. This is the background to the "siege" on Gaza, a siege against the introduction of missiles, rockets, artillery, and explosives, not against the introduction of food, medicine, and commerce.

Israel, of course, is not responsible for the border of the Gaza Strip with Egypt, but the Egyptians also fear the terrorist intentions of Hamas and therefore prevent the entry of weapons into the Gaza Strip. If the Egyptians prevent the entry and exit of goods or want to tax them - that is between them and Gaza, not related to Israel.

Since 2006, Hamas, as mentioned, has been responsible for and managing Gaza, but it does not even try to develop it economically. The world and Arab countries have transferred billions of dollars to Gaza over the years, but Hamas has used them for the enrichment of its leaders and for military purposes of the arms industry and the establishment of an underground city of military tunnels.

Not only does Israel not prevent Gaza from developing economically for civilian purposes, it assists the economy of Gaza by providing work for thousands of workers, who during peaceful days would enter Israel and earn ten to twenty times more than what they get in Gaza, and in the supply of electricity and water.

But of course, the entry of workers, the supply of electricity and water, stop every time the fighting resumes due to Gaza's attacks on Israel, and of course, Gaza and its people are harmed as a result of each round of fighting, but the full responsibility for this lies with Hamas / Gaza who attack Israel again and again and strive for its destruction.

The artificial and misleading distinction sometimes made between Hamas and Gaza, as if Israel is fighting Hamas and not Gaza, is that most residents of Gaza supported and elected Hamas in the only elections held in Gaza in 2006. One can assume that some residents of Gaza very much regret their choice of Hamas, which enslaved and dragged the residents of Gaza into poverty, unemployment, backwardness, and hopeless and endless fighting, but in the absence of freedom of expression and free media in Gaza, it is impossible to know the true level of support for Hamas in Gaza today.

It's not possible to discuss the situation in Gaza without mentioning the Islamic Jihad Organization: a terror organization consisting of thousands of fighters in Gaza, manufacturing and smuggling weapons, funded and subordinate to Iran, and operating alongside Hamas, ostensibly not subject to it even though Hamas ostensibly controls Gaza. Islamic Jihad does not see itself as bound by the cease-fire agreements between Hamas and Israel, nor by the Oslo Accords. It explicitly aims for the destruction of Israel and denies any negotiations or political settlement. Like Hezbollah is an independent and separate organization in Lebanon under Iran, so is Islamic Jihad.

This allows Hamas to play a double game, where it's convenient to be the ruler of Gaza, and when it's convenient, missile fire or another terror attack is not related to it but to Islamic Jihad.

Any solution and hope for Gaza must be based on the premise that Gaza is one entity for better or worse: receiving support and assistance for economic development, but any attack from it triggers sanctions against Gaza, not against this or that organization within Gaza. Whoever controls Gaza must be fully responsible for it and not allow independent military organizations to operate alongside it.

In conclusion, the result of Hamas's rule in Gaza is a difficult economic situation, high unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, despair, and hatred, and repeated cycles of war, all of which occurred due to terror attacks from Gaza towards Israel.

So yes, #freePalestine is a catchy slogan, but it has no connection to the war between Israel and Gaza.

The solution and hope for the people of Gaza lie in #freeGazafromHamas and in the economic and civilian development of Gaza without cycles of war.

^ I couldn’t have explained all of this better.

Anti-Jewish Protesters around the World conveniently forget that NO Arab or Muslim Country (Egypt, Jordan, etc.) has wanted anything to do with Gaza or Hamas since 2006.

Even the Palestinian Authority that rules The West Bank has not had and doesn't want to have anything to do with Gaza or Hamas since 2006.

It is not ONLY about Hamas vs. Israel.

It is about Hamas vs. the Arabs.

It is about Hamas vs. the Palestinians.

It is about Hamas vs. the World.

Free Gaza From Hamas! ^
