Okhmatdyt

On July 8, 2024, The National Children's Specialized Hospital "Okhmatdyt" (Ukrainian: Охматди́т (скорочено від «охорона материнства та дитинства»)  in Kyiv, Ukraine was attacked by the Russians, using a Kh-101 Missile, and over 60% of the Facility was destroyed.

Okhmatdyt is an Acronym of “Protection of Motherhood and Childhood - in English.

The Toxicology Building with the Chronic and Acute Intoxication Unit (where Children undergo Dialysis) was destroyed.

In the new, recently opened building 12 Departments were damaged including 8 Surgical, 5 Oncology, 2 Intensive Care Units, an Operation Room and a Radiology and Radiation Therapy Department.

Ukraine’s only Oncohematology Laboratory was also destroyed.

At the time of Russia’s Terrorist Attack there were 600 Patients, an unknown number of Family and another 600 Medical Workers inside Okhmatdyt.

This is not the first time Russia has targeted Ukrainian Hospitals.

On March 9, 2022 the Russians attacked the Mariupol Hospital in Mariupol, Ukraine.

On April 13, 2022 the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) stated that the Mariupol Hospital Attack was a War Crime.

On April 4, 2024 the World Health Organization (WHO) verified 1,682 attacks on Health Care Facilities in Ukraine, resulting in 128 deaths and 288 injuries of Medical Personnel and Patients.

That number will be much higher when a full investigation is made once Russia is defeated.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said it had organized a visit by 33 Heads of Diplomatic Missions currently operating in Ukraine.

Among them are the Heads and Representatives of Diplomatic Missions of the EU, NATO, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Moldova, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, North Macedonia, Poland, the Holy See, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.

Currently, Russia is Chairing the United National Security Council so Russian War Crimes in Ukraine (including the Okhmatdyt Hospital Bombing) will go unpunished (for now.)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is currently in the United States for the NATO Summit (the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of NATO.)

Ukraine declared a National Day of Mourning to remember the Attack.

Ukrainians defeated the German Nazis in Ukraine in 1945 and Ukrainians will defeat the Russian Nazis in Ukraine.
