Today, Volunteers (Military
Charities, Veterans, Boy/Girl Scouts, etc.) will place an American Flag at all
172 National Cemeteries across the United States and its Territories as well
the 26 American Cemeteries across the World.
4.5 Million Soldiers, Veterans and
their Spouses are interned in these 172 National Cemeteries.
(400,000 are buried at Arlington
National Cemetery in Virginia - the largest National Cemetery- and 22 are buried at the Hampton Veterans
Affairs Medical Center National Cemetery in Virginia - the smallest National
Cemetery.)
140,000 Soldiers are interned in
the American Battle Monuments Commission’s Cemeteries in 17 Countries and non-US
Territories.
(17, 201 are buried at the Manila
American Cemetery and Memorial in the Philippines - the largest ABMC Cemetery -
and 51 are buried at the Lafayette Escadrille Cemetery and Memorial in France -
the smallest ABMC Cemetery.)
Even in death we remember the
Millions of Men and Women who risked everything – including their lives – to protect
the United States and the World.
