Shootings' Victims

From the BBC:
“El Paso and Dayton shootings: Who were the victims?”

When a gunman opened fire at shoppers at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday, one young couple gave their lives to save their two-month-old son, relatives said. Jordan and Andre Anchondo had just celebrated their first wedding anniversary and were shopping for back-to-school supplies when they were targeted by the attacker. Doctors said the little boy's broken bones suggested his mother Jordan, who was 24, had tried to shield him from the onslaught, falling on him as she was shot; family members said that Andre, 23, tried to shield the mother-of-three as he was fatally injured. "[The baby] is alive because of the heroics of both his mother and father," Jordan's aunt Elizabeth Terry told The Guardian. "They are clearly amazing parents - self-sacrificing in every sense of the word.  The Anchondos were two of 30 people who died in two mass shootings in Texas and Ohio at the weekend that shook the US. Here is what we know about the other victims.

Javier Rodriguez
The 15-year-old's family had hoped to find him after he went missing on Saturday. Pictures were circulated on social media, but on Sunday the family confirmed the worst. His aunt, Elvira, posted on Facebook that "many tears were being shed" for the teenager. Horizon High School, where he was due to start as a sophomore in a few weeks, was planning a vigil in his memory, an official told the El Paso Times.

^ It is always sad to hear the stories of the men, women and children killed and wounded in these kinds of senseless murders, but it is necessary to learn so that we know there aren’t just numbers, but real people. ^
