My 2nd Shot!

I got my second dose of the Covid Vaccine today. When I got my 1st shot they automatically made me an appointment for April 30th, but I changed it to today (April 24th) in-line with the 21 days between the two shots. I don't usually go anyplace on the weekends, but today I braved all the early-season tourists and drove an hour away to get my shot at the same Mall I went to on April 2nd. At least it was sunny and warm outside.

Unlike the last time I was there, and there were only a handful of people, this time there was a long steady stream of people (probably because my State is the only place in the country where all American Citizens and Nationals get make an appointment to get the Vaccine regardless of where they live – there were a lot of people from Massachusetts.

I had no issue getting my temperature checked and asked questions at the entrance by two National Guardsmen. Then I had to wait in the Registration Line for a while. When I got to the National Guardswoman at the Registration she checked my ID and my Covid Vaccination Card and asked me which Vaccine I had received (to confirm what was on my Card and on her Computer) – the site offered both Vaccines so I got asked which one I was getting several times. The woman then handed me a bright yellow Card with the Vaccine Name on it.

I then waited in a short line where another National Guardswoman checked my ID, my Vaccination Card and my Colored Vaccination Card and told me which area to go to next. When I got my first Covid Vaccine Shot it was given to me by a very dirty-looking and smelly guy (from the local Fire/EMT Department.) This time I got a very clean-cut EMT. As I sat down for my shot both the National Guardsman at his computer and the EMT asked me which Vaccine I was getting (confirming it with my Card and their Computer.) I got my shot, was handed my Covid Vaccine Card back, waited 15 minutes in the Observation Area and then left. It was all very straightforward and professional.

My State doesn’t have a Covid Vaccine Passport, but I am able to go onto the State Website and print out a Certificate for both of the Covid Vaccines I received (with all the information on it.) The CDC Card is worthless since you can’t fit it into your wallet.
