I self-laminated my Covid Vaccination Card today (since I got both shots.) The CDC was not very smart in making it too big to fit into a regular-sized wallet.
Now that every American who wants
one can get a Covid Vaccine I am all for a Covid Vaccine Passport (or whatever
you want to call it) - something that shows we got the shot/shots. It would
have been discrimination to offer one when only a select few could receive it.
There are a few out there, but they are
limited in use (ie. New York's Covid Passport is only open for New Yorkers
and doesn't help all the commuters from
neighboring States or all the Tourists.)
In my State every American
Citizen and American National, regardless of where they live around the
country, can get the Covid Vaccine. Yet my State doesn't have and won't make a
Covid Vaccine Passport.
While it is every American's
right to decide whether to get the Covid Vaccine or not I do not think those of
us who have received the Covid Vaccine should be penalized because of those who
do not.
Students in Elementary, Middle
and High Schools as well as in many Colleges and Universities have to show
proof of other Vaccines in order to attend school (and those with medical or
religious exemptions are few and far-between.)
The Covid Vaccine Passport is
similar to this education requirement only for all Americans wanting to go back
to places with lots of people safely. I would even be okay with a Covid
Passport that also allowed unvaccinated people who get a negative Covid Test
within a certain period to be able to temporarily join the Covid Passport
System (and stay on as long as they continuously provide negative Covid Tests.)
My State does allow you to print
a copy of each Covid Vaccine Shot you got (in case you lose your Vaccination
Card), but these Cards and records are easy to counterfeit.
Having a Covid Vaccine Passport
(or whatever you want to call it) that is safe and secure would make things
much easier for the hundreds of millions of Americans (140 Million and
counting) who have gotten their Covid Vaccine go anywhere around the country
(and possibly the world) safely and with less restrictions.
