22 Hours And Counting

I cleared all the branches and other things that had fallen during the storm. I then drove to the mailbox. You can see all the fallen trees on the road that a neighbor had cut and moved - the town should, but never does. The regular power is still out (22 hours now) and Electric Company says most people - 13,000 people in my area alone - won't have their power restored until tomorrow night and hundreds will have to wait until Friday. Of course everyone uses the Covid-19 excuse for their incompetence and we are just supposed to accept it - I don't.

It may not be Winter with temperatures down to -50 F and heavy snow, but not having power in the Summer when it is hot and humid is not good either (since the house can get to 80-100 F.) I have a whole house generator and am rationing what I use inside the house.

I also gave an open-ended invitation to the next door neighbors (a Vietnam Veteran and his disabled wife) should they ever need to come here - they only have a small portable generator. I am also making sure my dog is staying cool - he has the best spot in front of the air conditioner - and is drinking lots of water.

If the generator stops working before the regular power is restored I won't have ac, electricity, Internet and probably phone (and cell phones have never worked up here.)
