From MySanAntonio.com:
“City's animal care services
'desperately' needs blankets for its pets”
With the weather being on the
cooler side, San Antonio Animal Care Services said it "desperately"
needs the public's help to keep its animals warm. "We've run out of
blankets," the city-owned shelter stated on its Facebook page Sunday
afternoon. The donations can be gently used or new blankets, sheets or towels,
ACS added. The items can be dropped off from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and
from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends at ACS at 4710 State Highway 151. According
to the National Weather Service, Monday will be sunny with a low of 41 degrees
at night. There is also a strong chance for showers Tuesday night and on
Wednesday.
^ I may live in an area that gets
very cold temperatures (down to -50 F not including the windchills) and lots of
snow, but even animals in places like Texas where the 40s F is considered cold
need blankets and special attention to keep warm. I have been to Texas many
times (including in Winter) and my dog was born in Texas before being rescued
and brought up North so I know what is cold for humans and animals alike down South
is not the same as for humans and animals alike up North. Add to that the rain
and it is even more uncomfortable so hopefully places in Texas, like the San
Antonio Animal Care Services, can get the donated items they need to help keep
their animals warm and comfortable. ^
