On Sept.1st I e-mailed my credit
union in Maryland to send me new check registers - which I have done many times since I first
started using them when I was 16. When I didn't get any in the mail I sent
another e-mail to them on Sept. 23rd. Today (Oct, 4th) I got two letters in the
mail from the credit union (both with deposit envelopes in them, but no check
registers.) I just sent them a third e-mail about this.
The credit union used to be
really good when they only served the Military in Maryland (my Dad was stationed there and that's when my parents opened their
account with them.) I opened my own account with them when I was 16 and living
in Germany.
Several years ago they started
allowing anyone (Military and civilians) to open accounts with them. That's
when their customer service - by e-mail and over the phone went bad. It now takes days to get a response
by e-mail and several hours to get anyone over the phone.
On top of that they seem to have
hired only dumb people. I can't tell you have many times over the past few
years I have called them, waited hours to get a person and immediately after
the person asking me for my address on file (to confirm my identity) that same
person telling me that I can come into any of their "convenient locations" - which are only a handful in Maryland -even
after I just told them I live in northern New England – several hours away.
I really want to close my account
with them, but you have to do that in person
(in one of their "convenient" Maryland locations.)
I didn't have this much trouble
with them opening the account from Germany (before the Internet was widely
used) and just want my check registers. At this point it's more the principal
than the actual register.
