Last Friday (April 10th)
my landline telephone with Consolidated Communications went out. Cell phones
have never worked on my mountain or in my town so I can only reach the outside
world using the Internet.
I filed a Support Ticket online on Friday and had my
Sister (who lives in Colorado) call CCI today to check on things. There was no
phone service Friday afternoon or night, for 23 hours on Saturday and all day
on Sunday (Easter.) Today there is sporadic phone service.
Since I couldn’t talk to my
Great-Aunt yesterday I called her today and helped her watch the Easter Sunday
Mass from her regular church online. Then I got a call from CCI saying that the
rain and storms today were the reason for the phone problems in the area. I
said that the phone went out last Friday when it was sunny and beautiful and
that’s when I made the Support Ticket.
The guy made some other excuses,
but the long story short is that tomorrow they are going to finally replace the
phone lines around the main box in our area (apparently it has been a very long
time since they have been switched.)
Last Thanksgiving the landline
phone was out for 10 days and CCI only switched our wires inside the box which
worked until now. Hopefully actually replacing the outside phone lines will fix
the issue permanently.
So from now until tomorrow night
we will continue to have unreliable phone service. Fingers crossed that after
tomorrow we will have reliable phone service for years to come.
