80 years ago today (April 12,
1945) US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt died.
FDR was born on January 30, 1882
in Hyde Park, New York.
He married his 5th
Cousin once Removed Eleanor Roosevelt on March 17, 1905 and they would have 6
Children.
He was a Member of the New State
Senate from 1911-1913.
From 1913-1920 he was the
Assistant Secretary of the Navy.
In 1921 he contacted Polio and
had to wear braces and have help standing and walking for the rest of his life.
He was the 44th
Governor of New York from 1929-1933.
He was the 32nd
President of the United States from 1933-1945.
He saw the United States through
the Great Depression (1929-1939) as well as World War 2 (1941-1945.)
He died on April 12, 1945 in Warm
Springs, Georgia at the age of 63,
