Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg,
currently serving as President Trump’s Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia,
outlined a potential ceasefire plan that would divide Ukraine into Zones of Control.
Under the proposal, Western Ukraine would be
secured by British and French Forces as part of a Multinational "Reassurance
Force," while Russian Forces would retain control over Occupied Territories
in the east.
A Demilitarized Buffer Zone,
approximately 18 miles wide, would separate the two regions, with Ukrainian Troops
positioned along the divide.
Notably, the plan excludes
American boots on the ground, reflecting a cautious approach by the U.S. Administration
amid growing domestic concerns about Foreign Military Engagements.
However, the suggestion of
partitioning Ukraine has drawn sharp criticism. Analysts warn it risks
legitimizing Russia's occupation of Ukrainian Territory and mirrors a
historical precedent that many find alarming.
“The comparison to post-war
Berlin sends the wrong signal,” said one European Diplomat. “It implies that
Ukraine, like Germany in 1945, has lost—when in fact it continues to fight for
its sovereignty.”
This is a horrible idea and plan.
