From the BBC:
Kherson is ours, says Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr
Zelensky says Kherson is "ours" after Russia's retreat from the city
earlier today.
"Our people. Ours.
Kherson," Zelensky wrote on Telegram alongside a Ukraine flag emoji and
video footage that appeared to show Ukrainian troops gathering with residents
of the city.
^ Kherson, the only Ukrainian
Provincial Capital to be occupied by the Russians, was occupied from March 2-
November 11, 2022.
It had a pre-War population of 283,649
people.
In September 2022 armed Russian
Occupation Soldiers went door-to-door and forced the Ukrainian Residents to
vote to join the Russian Federation (a vote the UN has called illegal.)
On November 9, 2022 30,000
Russian Soldiers, Russian Occupation Officials and Russian Civilians were
forced to flee the advancing Ukrainian Military as they liberated Kherson from
Russian Rule.
Today, November 11, 2022 those
who survived the Battle of Kherson and the Russian Occupation of Kherson are
out on the city streets with Ukrainian flags as Putin and the Russians have to
officially admit another major defeat in their War in Ukraine. ^
