As a dual Canadian Citizen and an
American Citizen I enjoyed watching the 70th Platinum Jubilee Parade for Queen
Elizabeth II today. She is the First Canadian Monarch and the First Canadian
Queen, but also a World Monarch that even Americans love.
My Mom loved going to Buckingham
Palace every time we were in London (and I’ve been to London about 12 times.)
In August 2007 we went to London
(flying from the US and going to Kuwait to meet-up with my Dad and then
splitting with my Parents going to England and the Scotland and Me going to:
the United Arab Emirates, Cyprus, Greece, Germany and back to London.)
During that Big August Trip Buckingham
Palace was opening up to Visitors - with
advanced tickets - in an unprecedented way (for the 60th Wedding
Anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip.)
I got our tickets months before that
allowed us to enter Buckingham Palace (the Queen was not in London at the time)
and getting to see rooms and areas that usually weren’t opened to the public.
We also saw a special exhibit about the 60th Wedding Anniversary,
had a special tea inside the Palace and got to walk in the “backyard” which is
where I took this picture.
It was a nice, behind the scenes
look that not many people get to do.
