1st World Solutions

It still amazes me that after 4 months of Russia’s War in Ukraine there are still People who go on sites and post things like: “Thoughts and Prayers”, “Why did they leave their animal in the first place?”, “They should just complain to a City Official about the Occupation”, etc.

Now I know the US, the UK, Germany, France, Canada, Italy, Poland, etc. haven’t been directly affected by a war on their Territory since 1945, but even without experiencing a war you should at least be able to use some Common Sense.

While “Thoughts and Prayers” are well and good they do little to change things on the ground in a warzone. It would mean more to the Victims  - who are being wounded and killed - if you donated (clothes, food, supplies, money, your time, etc.) or if you can’t do that then at least repost and spread the word. Helping doesn’t have to cost you a thing. You can also pray for them while doing something more concrete.

As for “Why did they leave their animal in the first place?”: Imagine your town or city was suddenly bombed or that Russian Soldiers were fighting street-by-street and house-by-house. You have a few minutes to grab whatever you can think of (your Documents – since every place will make you prove you aren’t a Russian Spy – your Children, Your Elderly Parents, Food, etc.) Even if you do take your animals with you at first you may lose them when you are ducking from exploding bombs or bullets flying past you. Most people (anywhere in the world, but especially in Ukraine) with animals love them like Family and would never willingly leave them.

Then there’s the “They should just complain to a City Official about the Occupation”:  If you are in a Russian-Occupied Ukrainian Town or City you cannot just walk up to a Russian Soldier or Russian Official and ask them for anything. If the Bucha Massacre has shown us anything it’s that you try to stay in-doors and hidden from the Occupying Russians and hope they don’t come to your house to rape, torture or tie your hands behind your back and then shoot you – sometimes after raping or torturing you.

You can tell how secure and dumb some people are with these kinds of comments. I have never been in a warzone and yet I still have Basic Common Sense to know what you can and can’t do  - especially as a Civilian. Our First World Solutions will not work in a Warzone.

Something to think about before you post your comments on any site.
