Generator

 I had some issues with the Generator Company that came today to service the Generator.

I talked with the Generator Company's Manager. On the phone to complain about the service. She was giggling and making light of my complaint and making every excuse possible (she said that was just her personality and I told her that when someone is making a complaint she needs to be a lot more professional.)

I had just told her that the Generator guy spent 10-15 minutes sitting in his truck in my driveway and I went out to ask if he was from the generator company (since his truck didn't say anything.) Then within 20 minutes he was gone. I have no idea if he even opened the Generator, tested it, etc. He also didn't come to the door afterwards to tell me how things were with it.

I also told her that we have used them for the past 12 years and this time was the worst by far. In June 2020 the guy came to the door before he started working, checked out the Generator and then came to my door to give me an update on everything and then left.

I told her we live on an isolated mountain and the regular power goes out throughout the year and we are the last place to have it restored so need a Generator we can count on.

She tried the excuse that not everyone is home when they arrive (to which I repeated myself that I personally spoke with the Guy before he did any work so he clearly knew I was home.)

She tried the excuse that she had talked to the Generator Guy on the phone and that he told her that everything was fine (to which I replied that I expect him to come back to my house to tell/show me everything is all set.)

She tried to apologize to me by saying "I am sorry you feel that you weren't being treated professionally by the Generator Guy or by her" (to which I replied that wasn't a real apology since a real one doesn't start with "I'm sorry you feel......" It starts with "I'm sorry.........")

I demanded the Generator guy come back today and give me the status of the generator himself (not playing the Telephone Game where he tells the Manager who then tells me.)

We get as cold as -50 F with several feet of snow at a time in the Winter. We get as hot as 110 F with high humidity in the Summer. We get Severe and Damaging Wind and Thunderstorms that knock down trees and branches (which surround everything on my Mountain.) I need a Generator I can trust will automatically come on (for heaters, the air conditioner and the electricity) and a Generator Company I can trust will treat me professionally.

45 minutes after my complaint call to the Generator Company: The Generator guy came back, showed everything inside the generator and has now left. I am now fully satisfied that the generator is all set to deal with another year of extreme heat and extreme cold. He immediately asked for my Dad (apparently my Dad was home on Leave once and spoke with him - telling him stories of work overseas, etc.)

I apologized to him and said he was stuck with me as I have lived here full-time for 12 1/2 years whereas my Dad hasn't. He usually comes home, enjoys things and then leaves - leaving me to deal with all the grunt work the rest of the time (which is why I take all of this very seriously.)

Still annoyed at how the Manager handled things, but am now fine with the Generator guy and the condition of the generator.
