Shutdown Possible

In less than a month (on Friday December 11, 2020) there is a big possibility that the US Federal Government will Shut-Down once again. If there is a Shut-Down it probably won’t be over until Inauguration Day on January 20, 2021.  The last time it happened was from December 22, 2018, until January 25, 2019 - 35 days.

During a Federal Government Shut-Down Federal employees will either be made to continue working, but  without pay or will be furloughed and not paid (until after the Government is funded again.) Federal Government Buildings, Agencies, Departments and Programs will be also be impacted – which means even non-Federal employees will be directly affected by the Shutdown.

Not only will this be a long Shutdown at around 40 days (if it happens – and it looks like it might) but it will happen during Chanukah, Christmas and New Year’s – not to mention during a Pandemic.

So, try as best you can, to prepare now for a possible Federal Government Shutdown on December 11, 2020 -   whether you work for the Federal Government or receive  assistance from the Federal Government.
