I went to my local Post Office today. I brought a package to the counter and told the USPS employee that I wanted to send it Priority and that it was Fragile. She immediately started being very rude and giving me attitude. She asked me if the small box could withstand a large 70 lbs. box being on-top of it. I said I had no idea and asked her not to put a heavy box on it. The rest of the transaction continued with her same nastiness and unprofessionalism (when she asked me to verify the address on the screen and if anything was “Fragile Liquid or Perishable” in the screen) so much so that I asked to speak with her Supervisor and was told they were all gone. She then chucked my fragile box to the side and went in the back where I could hear her making some very rude comments about me.
Another USPS
employee, who was at the next counter, was very polite and professional to
me - especially when I asked to leave a
note for the Supervisor to contact me regarding the first USPS employee’s
horrible attitude. I came home and filed an official complaint on the rude
employee (and still waiting to hear from the Supervisor.)
In case you
think these complaints mean nothing. I have gotten people (from the USPS and at
other places) fired, demoted, etc.
Just to be
clear I am not one of those people who complains and expects anything for free –
if I complain (in a restaurant, an attraction, about an item, etc.) and am
offered something for free to make up for it I always decline saying I just
wanted to make sure the company knew about the poor service.
While I do make
official complaints I also make official recognitions for when people are good
(like the second USPS employee today.) I believe in acknowledging and rewarding
the good and acknowledging and punishing the bad.
The moral of this is: do your job correctly and don't mess with me,
