Russian Protests

 I’ve been getting messages and pictures from friends throughout Russia about the current protests throughout the country (where hundreds of thousands of people are showing their support for Alexei Navalny and against Putin’s 21 year Dictatorship and over 3,000 have been arrested.)

For people trying to compare what is going on in Russia right now with what happened in the US on January 6th:

- January 6, 2021 Domestic Terrorists, led by Former President Trump, attempted a violent and deadly Coup Attempt against the US Federal Government and tried to destroy the 245 years of American Democracy. They failed and American Democracy continues.

- January 23, 2021: Hundreds of thousands of Russians in 112 cities are protesting Navalny’s arrest and also Putin’s Dictatorship. They want to bring Democracy to Russia which has had Centuries of Czarist Dictatorship, 74 years of Communist Dictatorship and nearly 30 years of first Yeltsin and then Putin’s Dictatorship (Russia was only a Democracy from February-October 1917 and then from December 1991-January 1992.)

FYI: Russia had a successful Coup Attempt in September-October 1993 where 143 people were killed and 437 were wounded. That Coup led to Yeltsin governing by decree.

I do not support anyone associated with the January 6th US Coup Attempt, but do support my Russian friends who are trying to bring Democracy to their country.
