Luther Ladd



156 years ago today, Luther C. Ladd from New Hampshire became the first Union soldier killed during the Civil War when he sustained a fractured skull and a fatal bullet wound that severed an artery in his thigh by a pro-Confederacy mob during the Baltimore Riots. He was 17 years old.
