From Yahoo/The Hill:
“Israel calls on UN chief to resign after call for ceasefire
with Hamas”
Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations called on
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to resign on Tuesday after he gave a speech
calling for a cease-fire in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. “The UN
Secretary-General, who shows understanding for the campaign of mass murder of
children, women, and the elderly, is not fit to lead the UN,” Ambassador Gilad
Erdan said on X, formerly Twitter. “I call on him to resign immediately.” “There
is no justification or point in talking to those who show compassion for the
most terrible atrocities committed against the citizens of Israel and the
Jewish people,” he added. “There are simply no words.”
Earlier Tuesday, Guterres gave a speech at the United Nations
denouncing both Hamas and Israel for acts endangering civilians, saying that he
is “deeply concerned” about the “clear violations of international humanitarian
law” in the conflict. “The protection of civilians is paramount in any armed
conflict. Protecting civilians can never mean using them as human shields,” he
said, referring to Hamas. “Protecting civilians does not mean ordering more
than 1 million people to evacuate to the south [of Gaza] where there is no
shelter, no food, no water, no medicine and no fuel and then continuing to bomb
the south itself,” he continued, calling out the Israeli military. “To ease
epic suffering, make the delivery of aid easier and safer, and facilitate the
release of hostages, I reiterate my appeal for an immediate humanitarian
ceasefire,” Guterres added.
Erdan took exception to Guterres’ sentiments, saying he is
“disconnected from reality.” “The shocking speech by the UN Secretary-General
at the Security Council meeting, while rockets are being fired at all of
Israel, proved conclusively, beyond any doubt, that the Secretary-General is
completely disconnected from the reality in our region and that he views the
massacre committed by Nazi Hamas terrorists in a distorted and immoral manner,”
he said.
Guterres has been a chief advocate for humanitarian aid in
Gaza, a territory which has nearly run out of food, water, medical supplies and
fuel. The first humanitarian aid convoys entered Gaza on Saturday, but Guterres
warned that they will soon be forced to stop unless Israel reverses its ban on
fuel imports, as the U.N.’s reserve is running low.
The fighting has killed over 5,000 Palestinians, including
over 2,000 children, according to the Hamas-controlled Gaza Health Ministry.
Over 1,400 Israelis were also killed, mostly in a Hamas surprise attack at the
outset of the conflict earlier this month. Israel ramped up its aerial strike
campaign on Gaza overnight Tuesday as the country prepares for an expected
ground invasion of Gaza. Also in response to Guterres’ speech, Israeli Foreign
Minister Eli Cohen said he will cancel upcoming meetings with the U.N. chief. “I
will not meet with the UN Secretary General. After October 7th there is no room
for a balanced approach,” he said on X. “Hamas must be erased from the world!”
Speaking at the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday,
Secretary-General António Guterres called for a “humanitarian ceasefire” in the
war between Israel and Hamas, so humanitarian aid could reach Gaza.
ANTÓNIO GUTERRES: The protection of civilians is paramount in any armed
conflict. Protecting civilians can never mean using them as human shields.
Protection of civilians-- protecting civilians does not mean ordering more than
1 million people to evacuate to the south, where there is no shelter, no food,
no water, no medicine, and no fuel, and then continuing to bomb the south
itself. I am deeply concerned about the clear violations of international
humanitarian law that we are witnessing in Gaza. Let me be clear-- no party to
an armed conflict is above international humanitarian law. Excellencies,
thankfully, some humanitarian relief is finally getting into Gaza. But it is a
drop of aid in an ocean of need. In addition, our UN fuel supplies in Gaza will
run out in a matter of days. And that will be another disaster. Without fuel,
aid cannot be delivered, hospitals will not have power, and drinking water
cannot be purified or even pumped. The people of Gaza need continuous aid
delivery at a level that corresponds to the enormous needs. And that aid must
be delivered without restrictions. I salute our UN colleagues and humanitarian
partners in Gaza working in-- under hazardous conditions and risking their
lives to provide aid to those in need. They are an inspiration. To ease epic
suffering, make the delivery of aid easier, safer, and facilitate the release
of hostages, I reiterate my appeal for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.
^ Sadly, Antonio Guterres, the United Nations and most of the
World are siding with the Hamas Terrorists that govern Gaza than with the true
Victims in all of this: the Israelis and Foreigners in Israel.
Hamas attacked Israel first massacring Innocent Men, Women
and Children and then kidnapping 220 Innocent Israeli and Foreign Men, Women
and Children and bring them to Gaza.
The Palestinians in Gaza (which Hamas has ruled since 2006)
should stand-up against Hamas and their Attacks on Israeli. If they don't then
they are supporting the Terrorists.
People around the World (on College/University Campuses, in
Cities, etc.) that support Hamas and Gaza are also Supporters of Terrorism and
Anti-Semitic.
Hamas is a Terrorist Organization (labeled as such since
1993) the same way as Al-Qaida, the Islamic State and the Taliban are
Terrorists.
Note: People who support the Palestinians in the West Bank or
in Palestinians in general are NOT Supporters of Terrorism. Only those that
support Hamas and the Palestinians in Gaza.
Egypt, Jordan and every other Muslim/Arab Country don't want to have anything to do with the Palestinians in Gaza or Hamas - if they did they would open there Borders to help them.
The Palestinians in the West Bank have also stated they
haven't had anything to do with Hamas or the Palestinians in Gaza since 2006.
This shows that NO ONE (Guterres, the UN, any Country or any
Person) should give any support to Hamas or the Palestinians in Gaza. To do so
is helping the Terrorists.
Antonio Guterres has picked his side (with Gaza and Hamas)
and should resign since he is no longer impartial and is supporting the
Terrorists rather than the Victims. ^
