More Aid Needed

Putin is complaining that the US, Canada, the UK and the 27 countries of the EU are sending Lethal Military Weapons to Ukraine so the Ukrainians can defend themselves against the Russians.

He (Putin) said there is no historical comparison with what the West is currently doing in Ukraine and so Russia has “every right to go after those supplies.” Once again Putin lives in his own world full of lies.

Historical Example #1: From September 1939- December 1941 - when the United States was neutral during World War 2 - the US gave the United Kingdom financial and lethal military aid through Cash and Carry and then Lend Lease. The British repaid the US for Cash and Carry and Lend Lease in 2006.

Historical Example # 2: From June 1941-December 1941 (when the United States was neutral during World War 2) the US gave the Soviet Union financial and lethal military aid through Cash and Carry and then Lend Lease.

A total of $50.1 Billion Dollars (equivalent to $690 Billion Dollars in 2020) worth of supplies was given through Lend Lease.

$11.3 Billion Dollars worth of weapons, food and supplies went to the Soviet Union alone.)

The US also gave the USSR: A total of: 17,499,861 tons of weapons, food, lethal military aid from 1941-1945 which included:

400,000 Jeeps and 12,000 Armored Vehicles with 1/3 of the trucks used by the Red Army being US built.

18,200 Aircraft – which amounted to 30% of the aircraft used by the Soviets.

7,000 Tanks – which were 8% of the total used by the Soviets.

1.75 Million tons of canned food – including Spam (Спам)

The USSR did not make any repayment to the US from 1941-1972. Even though the US gave the USSR $11.3 Billion Dollars worth of goods the US only asked for $1.3 Billion Dollars to settle the debt in 1945.

In 1972, the Soviets were forced to start repayments due to needing the US to send them grain and other foodstuffs because Soviet Citizens were starving. The Soviets gave the US $722 Million Dollars of the $1.3 Billion Dollars they owed.

Historical Example #3: During the Vietnam War (1964-1975) the Soviet Union gave financial aid and lethal military aid to Communist North Vietnam, but also sent 3,000 Soviet Troops to that country (13 were killed.) The Soviets gave the North Vietnamese: Aircraft, anti-aircraft weapons, food, petroleum, transport vehicles, iron, steel, fertilizer, arms, and ammunition.

The Soviets gave the North Vietnamese $8,750,066,937.93 Dollars (in today’s money) worth of aid.

China sent financial and lethal military aid to North Vietnam as well as 320,000 Chinese Soldiers (1,100 were killed.) China gave North Vietnam: $5,074,388,261.40 Dollars (in today’s money) worth of aid.

Other Communists Countries also gave financial and lethal military aid to North Vietnam: Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Cuba and Bulgaria.

These are just 2 Wars (World War 2 and Vietnam) as examples. There are more.

With regards to Russia’s War in Ukraine: The United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the EU and other countries need to send much more economic aid, humanitarian aid and lethal military aid to Zelenskyy. Russia’s Genocidal War in Ukraine is on-par with Hitler’s Genocidal War of World War 2 so the faster we can help Ukraine defeat the Russians the better for everyone (except for Russia) especially in ending the War Crimes being committed by Russian Soldiers.
