From UNIAN:
"No school with Ukrainian language of instruction left in occupied Crimea – human rights activists"
No school with the Ukrainian language of instruction has been left in Russia-occupied Crimea. As reported by the Crimean Human Rights Group on the results of the monitoring of education in the peninsula, the real situation with instruction in the native language in Crimea is much worse than that declared by the Russian-controlled "Ministry of Education of the Republic of Crimea." "In the 2018-2019 school year, the Crimean Human Rights Group conducted its own monitoring of the situation with instruction in the native language in Crimea. During the monitoring, the experts visited 24 schools and conducted surveys of the heads, teachers and parents of pupils. They also visited three schools that had been declared by the 'ministry' as schools with the Crimean Tatar language of instruction, one school declared as a school with the Ukrainian language of instruction, 18 schools declared as schools with classes with instruction in the Crimean Tatar language, and two schools declared as schools with classes with instruction in Ukrainian," reads the report. According to the results of the monitoring, there is not a single school in Crimea where all subjects are taught in the Ukrainian language." The number of classes with the Ukrainian language of instruction is also significantly small than those declared by the occupying authorities. Schools, which are officially declared as schools with the Crimean Tatar language of instruction, are in fact not such, and the instruction in them is carried out both in the Crimean Tatar and Russian languages," the human rights group said.
^ Russia is committing linguistic genocide in annexed Crimea. Those who speak Ukrainian or Tartar are discriminated against and many simply "disappear." ^
