From UNIAN:
"Ukraine reveals over 15,000 fire safety violations amid large-scale inspection of public places"
^ I am impressed that these figures were released publically. It shows a real transparency in the new Ukraine. Hopefully, now that these violations are public they will also be fixed. ^

"Ukraine reveals over 15,000 fire safety violations amid large-scale inspection of public places"
Chairman of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Mykola Chechotkin has said over 15,000 fire safety violations were revealed in the course of a large-scale inspection of public places. "As of today, 1,319 facilities have been inspected, including 937 pre-school and school facilities, 56 hospitals with in-patient treatment and 326 shopping malls. During the inspections, we have revealed over 15,000 violations, of which more than 5,000 have not been eliminated for a long time. The worst situation with compliance with the safety rules is in Donetsk, Sumy and Ternopil regions, where more than 60% of previously recommended measures have not been implemented," he said at a government meeting, an UNIAN correspondent reports. Chechotkin said 1,200 administrative penalties were imposed on the management of the facilities, claims for closing 37 objects were submitted to the court for violating fire safety requirements. They include 16 shopping malls, 18 pre-school and school facilities and three hospitals. He also said the results of the inspection would be published on the agency's website on Wednesday, April 11, and would be updated on a weekly basis. As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman on March 28 said the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine had instructed the State Emergency Service of Ukraine to conduct a large-scale inspection of shopping malls, cinemas and public places after a fatal fire in a shopping mall in the Russian city of Kemerovo.
