My town has officially published the Election results from yesterday. I am pleased that 2 special warrants were passed (there were more warrants, but they were the usual: town budget, road maintenance issues, fire department issues, etc.)
- My town voted in favor of the All-Veterans' Tax Credit. Before it was extremely difficult for a veteran to get the town tax credit and now "any veteran or their surviving spouse who served not less than 90 days active duty in the US Military and was honorably discharged will receive the Veteran Tax Credit from the town."
- My town also voted in favor of paying for a respite Day Away Program for "any resident and their in-home caregiver with Alzheimer's or other Dementia." That means the caregiver will get one day a week to relax and unwind while the person with Alzheimer's will spend the day at a local out-patient Alzheimer's facility and learn different ways to help become more independent or they can just socialize and join in the activities there.
It has taken 9 years since I have lived here (and much longer for the town itself) to finally start helping the disabled, sick and Veterans.
