Order Call

Last October when I ordered foreign currency for a trip I got an order confirmation e-mail and a shipping confirmation e-mail before the package arrived. This time I received an order confirmation e-mail and nothing else and the package is supposed to be here tomorrow (and I have to be here to sign for it.) I tried e-mailing them and got no response so I called them.

Apparently, the Long Island area code goes to the UK. The guy I spoke to (who didn't even ask for my order number) said "I don't know the ins or outs of how it is done" so I asked for his supervisor. She came on and despite having a very thick, hard to understand accent, she was very professional and helpful. She asked the order number, looked it up and then explained everything to me. It will be shipped to me tomorrow (knock on wood.)

This just goes to show you that if you have to deal with an idiot (the first guy) you should always ask for a supervisor and keep on that until you get someone intelligent and can do their job (the woman.) Of course I have had times when I had to go through a long chain of idiot employees and supervisors until I got that one good one.

I guess it's good to know that this isn't just an American thing for Customer Service. Now to see if the package actually comes tomorrow or if I have to make someone cry (or get them fired) on Friday.

^ Here's an update as of January 20, 2018^   I received my order on time and without any more issues. I never did get a shipping confirmation e-mail though. ^
