From UNIAN:
"Quarter of Ukrainians leaving country seek to wait out hard times"
Some intend to return, having gained knowledge and experience; others are only ready to go to get seasonal jobs. A little more than a quarter of Ukrainians leaving the country (26.1%) seek to stay on foreign soil to wait out hard times, according to a survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology Some 15.4% of respondents choose to travel abroad to engage in seasonal work, zn.ua reports. Another 9.3% would like to gain knowledge and experience, and then return to Ukraine. At the same time, 14% of respondents are ready to leave Ukraine for good. Around 12% of respondents would prefer earning money abroad to open their own business back home. At the same time, only 11% of citizens tried to open their own business: 2.7% called this experience successful, 8.3% believe they failed. Some 3% wish to stay out of the country until the war is over.As reported earlier, the State Statistics Service reported that 4,846 Ukrainians in 2017 had left Ukraine to seek a better life elsewhere.
^ It's sad to hear, but understandable. The Ukraine is going through tough times: annexation of the Crimea by Russia, Russian-backed war in the Donbas, trying to overcome it's Communist past as well as the corruption that has been part of everyday life for decades (as it is in many former Soviet Republics.) Hopefully, this is only a temporary "brain-drain" and the Ukrainians who leave will come back to help make their country even better than it already is. ^
