Jacqueline van Maarsen

Jacqueline van Maarsen passed away on February 13, 2025 at the age of 96.

Jacqueline was born on January 30, 1929 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands to a Jewish Father and a Christian Mother.

After the Germans invaded the Netherlands in 1940 she was forced to go to the Jewish Lyceum where she became friends with Anne Frank.

Anne and her Family went into hiding in 1942 and never saw Jacqueline again.

Jacqueline’s Mother was able to have her Children no longer considered Jewish by the Germans and so Jacqueline left the Jewish Lyceum and back to a Dutch School and survived the War.

 Jacqueline became an Award-Winning Bookbinder, Married, had 3 Children and 7 Grandchildren.
