From Kabul Small Animal Rescue’s Facebook:
We are watching the thermometer
drop tonight and seeing what could be the lowest temperature in Kabul in
decades--3F/-16C-- when humans and animals have so little right now, and the
sadness of the morning's toll is inevitable. But it's possible to make it just
a little less awful, and that's what we have been trying to do all day:
ensuring staff and families have enough wood and blankets, getting all our
animals inside, bringing heaters and blankets to all the K9 kennels we are
fortunate enough to help, and the blessing that is the shelter we are able to
offer to recently rescued group of dogs, keeping them warm instead of exposed
to the elements. We are trying to reach out to other shelters and any clients
with animals to bring hay or blankets or houses or firewood, but we can't reach
everyone. If you're in Kabul, put a cardboard box out with a towel in it, open
the doors to your basements or outside sheds, don't chase off the kitchen mice
tonight. If you find an animal in need, let us know. If you need help keeping
your own animals safe, please call us and we will try to respond with whatever
we have. You can call +93 77 626 3568 or +93 70 783 0605 on phone or WhatsApp
for English, Dari, and Pashto and we will do our best.

^ On top of everything (shortages,
organizing the evacuation of over 300 animals to Canada, etc.) KSAR is working hard
to keep their own animals safe and warm as well as helping others in Kabul do
the same. Please consider helping them by looking at the links above. ^
