Yesterday I had to be out to do
some errands and decided to treat myself at McDonald’s (the first time in
months.) I usually go inside, order and eat, but since you can’t eat inside I
decided to go through the Drive-Thru and take the food home. I had no issue
ordering or paying for the food. When I went to the pick-up window they told me
my order would take a little longer and that I should leave the Drive-Thru and
part in one of the near-by Drive-Thru parking spaces – so I did.
As I waited for my food I saw a
car with Massachusetts plates blocking people from the Drive-Thru Pick—Up
Window (it looked like they had been told to park in a parking space – like I
had – and didn’t want to.) They were really being Massholes. A McDonald’s
employee came outside and went to their car first. He handed them a bag and
after a few minutes they returned it back to him. He then brought that same bag
over to me (it was my order.) I told him that I didn’t want the food that the
other people had in their car (and I’m sure went through the food seeing if it
was their’s.) He then went back inside with the bag to remake my order.
15 minutes later (so much for
fast food) a manager came out holding my bag. I never asked for the manager. He
wasn’t wearing a mask or gloves like the other employee was. He gave me the bag
and mumbled something. As I was closing my window I said “These people are
ridiculous.” The manger walked back to my car and said “Did you say that about
me?” And I told him “Yes. About McDonald’s.” He clearly didn’t understand that
in the English Language the word “You” can either mean You – the Individual
- or You – the collective – and clearly
I was talking about You being the collective (as I said McDonald’s.) He looked
like he was either going to hit me or start something else and so I rolled-up
my window and backed-out of the spot. He then gave me a very stupid look and I
gave him the middle finger (not my proudest moment, but it happened.)
The main thing to take away from
all of this was that that McDonald’s clearly does not follow the new State
pandemic health guidelines. In my one visit I was offered food that complete
strangers had rummaged through and when I refused to take it the manger came
out not wearing a mask or gloves. I decided not to eat any of that food because
there was no way I could be sure the food wasn’t the same food that wasn’t
first given to the Massholes (just because they waited inside doesn’t mean they
didn’t just hand me the same bag.) I really hope the State Department of Health
investigates them because if they did those two incidents when I was there I’m
sure that McDonald’s has done much worse in terms of food safety during a
pandemic . Needless to say I won’t be going back to that McDonald’s. Luckily
there are many other places to eat in that town.
