From USA Today:
"Sully, George H.W. Bush's beloved service dog, gets a new job in the U.S. Navy"
Sully, a service dog who gained fame for his loyal companionship to President George H.W. Bush, has received a new assignment at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. The yellow Labrador retriever joined a team of facility dogs at the hospital and will provide comfort to veterans and their families, according to a personalized oath of enlistment read during a Wednesday livestream. The oath began: "Sully H.W. Bush, do you affirm — or pant — as a hospital corpsman in the United States Navy that you will support, comfort and cheer our warriors and their families, active duty and retired?" During the oath, Sully was asked to provide "unconditional love and solace, especially on busy days," and acknowledge that the responsibility came "without any promise of treats or tummy rubs." The dog was asked to "shake" at the conclusion of the oath. Sully's Instagram account announced the news Wednesday: "Today I became an official Facility Dog - HM2 Petty Officer. It’s an honor and privilege to join a wonderful group of dogs at @WRNMMC and I look forward to continue my mission to serve veterans as my best friend wanted me to." Bush regarded Sully as a "beautiful" and obedient companion since he joined his family in June, 2018. The dog made headlines when Bush family spokesman Jim McGrath shared a photo of Sully resting near the late president's casket with the caption "mission complete."
^ This is so cool. I am really glad that Sully can continue to help those that really need it. ^
