Rudolph

From USA Today:
"Rudolph the puppy was 'euthanized but lived,' pet rescue says"

An Iowa pet rescue says it has taken in a puppy that survived attempted euthanasia.   King's Harvest Pet Rescue – a self-described no-kill shelter in Davenport, Iowa – posted the story in a Wednesday social media post. The shelter says that Rudolph, a dog estimated to be 7 or 8 months old, came to the rescue after a failed euthanasia attempt by another shelter. "But God had a different plan because he woke up," the Facebook post reads. Local TV station WQAD reports that the puppy came from a crowded shelter in Oklahoma. The station reports veterinarians had found the puppy alive after having been given medicine meant to euthanize the animal. “He’s a miracle dog, absolutely,” the station quotes Kylie Jo Mitchell, who works at King's Harvest Pet Rescue. “I’ve never heard of anything like this ever, this is a first.” The station reported Friday that Rudolph has been adopted but that the shelter has not confirmed or released all the adoption details.  Reports of dogs surviving attempted euthanasia have circulated in the past. In 2011, ABC reported on a puppy from Oklahoma who was up for adoption after surviving injections that were supposed to be fatal. The Austin American-Statesman reported last year that a Texas dog was rescued on the side of the road after it was left blind, likely by a failed attempt at euthanasia. King's Harvest Pet Rescue did not immediately respond to USA TODAY Network requests for comment on Thursday and Friday.

^ This is such a sad and yet happy story. I think that we should euthanize animals (like dogs, cats, bunnies, horses, etc.) only when they are too sick to survive without being in pain and not just because of overcrowding as often happens around the world. ^
