Merry Christmas!

It is 3 pm and I have just finished my Christmas dinner. I have to say that so far this Christmas has been pretty good even though it is just my dogs and myself here. I celebrated an early Christmas while my dad was on leave and so it was really a "2nd Christmas."

Yesterday, (Christmas Eve) I opened my presents and got some good things: a new camera, books, DVDs, money and coins (I collect currency. Two of the books I got were 2,000 page books on world currency.) This year there was only one item - a book - that was sent to me that I have no idea who sent it. It happens every birthday and Christmas. People buy things from my Amazon Wish List and have my name as the seller and receiver and so I have no idea whom actually gave it to me and so I can't send them a thank you. Sadly, this year I only received 9 Christmas cards (an all-time low) and one of those wasn't even a card, but a picture. I have always said I love getting regular cards and would rather get a card than a present anytime.

This is the first Christmas since I have lived here (6 1/2 years) that there hasn't been snow on the ground and so we didn't have a white Christmas. We usually have highs of 23 F with about 2 feet of snow, but this year our high is 55 F and we had rain yesterday. I used to have non-white Christmases when I lived in Virginia, but never expected it once I moved to New England. We are supposed to get some snow later this week -  - I don't really care for snow and only want it on one day of the year: December 25th.

For today (Christmas) I would have liked to go to midnight mass, but the closest Catholic Church with it is 1 hour and 15 minutes away and it was pouring heavily last night. There is a Church 23 minutes in town, but it shares a priest with about 5 other churches. I did watch the midnight mass from the Vatican on TV though.

It would have been nice to have someone here to help me celebrate, but as usual there wasn't. I posted pictures on Facebook (mostly for the people who live vicariously through me - which is odd since I don't usually do anything anymore.) There are still friends that constantly ask me what I am doing and want exact details as though I was still travelling the world all the time. Whenever I ask them what they are up to though I don't get an answer.

I had my traditional Christmas dinner of: prime, prime roast and Yorkshire pudding. Everything tasted so good and of course there are leftovers.

While there are still several hours left of Christmas I am taking it easy and maybe finishing watching Christmas movies that have been playing non-stop since November.
