Card Wish

From WCVB 5:
"Girl's simple wish for Christmas cards coming true"

The story of a New York girl who asked for Christmas cards after being severely burned in a fatal fire has gone viral, and now she has a special connection to Boston.  Sa'fyre Terry suffered severe burns after someone set fire to her home in Schenectady, New York, that killed her father and three siblings. She was the only survivor. At Boston's Shriner's Hospital, where she's receiving treatment, the nurses call her Spitfire. "She's an engaging kid," Dr. Rob Sheridan said. "She wants to know who you are. She wants to know what's going on and she's not afraid to ask questions and she's not afraid to be engaged." She has a long road to recovery ahead, but the team at Shriners said they are amazed at how far she's come. "She has been able to achieve a functional level that we were very surprised at," Dr. Philip Chang said. "Currently she is able to attend school and interact with friends." Her aunt, Liz Dodler, has custody of Terry, said she bought a tree to hang Christmas cards on, and when Terry saw it she said she couldn't wait to fill it up. That's when she wished for Christmas cards from around the world, and now they're starting to pour in. There's still time for you to send her one, too.
Cards can be sent to:
Safyre
P.O. Box 6126
Schenectady, NY 12306

^ This was a very sad story, but it gives people a chance to do a little something to make her Christmas as good as it can be under the circumstances. She is from the area of upstate New York I am from and is now near where I live so sending a card seems like the least I and other people can do. ^
