Last Thursday I called my PCP to make a follow-up appointment from when I was in the ER last Tuesday. The Receptionist told me off for waiting 2 days to make the appointment and then said my on vacation for the whole week (which I reminded her it wouldn’t have made a difference if I had called last Wednesday or that day – last Thursday.)
She told me
that she had to check with the Nurses and someone would call me by the “end of
business on Thursday.” When no one had called me by Friday afternoon I called
them back – it’s so hard to get someone over the phone since they never answer.
The same
Receptionist then got snippy with me for calling again. I told her I was only
following what she told me – since no one had called me by the end of business
the day before. She told me someone would call me on Monday (today.)
Here it is
Monday afternoon and no one has called (no surprise there.) I guess not
everyone has the same belief as I do – if you say you will do something than
you do it (even a call to tell me they haven’t been able to reach my PCP and I
will need to wait some more is better than no call.)
It just shows
you how lazy and broken our Health Care System is and how you – the Patient –
have to constantly fight with everyone (Receptionists, Nurses, Technicians, Doctors,
Administrators, etc.) every step of the way.
Note: This is
not Covid-related. This has been an issue long before Covid and throughout the
US.
