“EU ambassadors on June 10 to give green light to prolong Crimean-related sanctions against Russia”
RFE/RL journalist Rikard Jozwiak says the EU ambassadors will on Wednesday give green light to prolong the EU's Crimea investment ban by another year. Sanctions include bans on: imports of products originating in Crimea or Sevastopol into the EU; investment in Crimea or Sevastopol, meaning that no Europeans or EU-based companies are allowed to buy real estate or entities in Crimea, finance Crimean companies or supply related services; tourism services in Crimea or Sevastopol, in particular, European cruise ships shall not call at ports in the Crimean peninsula, except in case of emergency. The restrictive measures also concern exports of certain goods and technologies to Crimean companies or for use in Crimea in transport, telecommunications, and energy sectors, as well as those related to the prospection, exploration, and extraction of oil, gas, and mineral resources. Technical assistance, brokering, construction or engineering services related to infrastructure in these sectors shall not be provided either. ^ Hopefully this report isn’t just a rumor and will come through. The EU, US, UK, Canada and the rest of the world needs to continue to sanction Russia for invading, occupying and annexing Crimea as well as for their role in the Donbas War. ^
