From KRDO News:
“Public invited to honor USMC
veteran being buried at Pikes Peak National Cemetery”
The Colorado Patriot Guard Riders
want people to show up at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery on Thursday to help
honor a veteran who will have no family present at his burial. Duane Lawrence,
a veteran of the US Marine Corps, will be interred at noon on Thursday. PPNC
and the American Legion Post 209 are organizing honors for Lawrence. According
to the Patriot Guard Riders, Lawrence is an unaccompanied veteran with no
family or representatives in the area.
^ I hope that both active-duty
soldiers, veterans and ordinary people will show their respect and attend Duane
Lawrence’s funeral. Here is some more information about the event: “The
Colorado Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in honor of Duane
Lawrence, USMC, for final honors on Thursday, Dec 19th, 2019, at Pikes Peak
National Cemetery. Mr. Lawrence is an unaccompanied veteran for this service,
meaning he has no family or representatives in the area. The director of PPNC
has asked us to stand for him. 11:15AM Stage, PPNC 10545 Drennan Rd., Colorado
Springs 11:30AM Brief 11:45AM, KSU for committal shelter.” Showing this last
respect is the least we can do for someone who risked everything and now has no
family to attend. Click this link for more info on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1706400146157199/ ^
