The Internet finally came back on here after being out for the past 36 hours. We did have a thunderstorm when it went out last Friday night (although it was fast-moving) and then even when it was storming and there was no rain it stayed off. I after the Internet had been off for 10 hours I called Hughes Net and got an Indian guy I could barely understand. He told me it was because of the storms in either my area or in Albuquerque, New Mexico (where their gateway is.) He said I should just look-up the weather there and when it's clear I will know. I told him I was calling him because I had no Internet and that since cell phones don't work on my mountain I can't use the Internet on my phone. He didn't know what to say and told me to call back later. Several hours later I called back and got a woman with a Russian accent (although I could understand he a lot better than the Indian guy.) She told me it was due to storms in my area - even though it wasn't storming or raining - at least I still had Satellite TV and could check the weather on the Weather Channel. I have lived without the Internet before (when I was younger and it was only used by the military and not the general public and when I lived in Russia and could only get it at an Internet café) but I have since become so used to having it (even though it stays on when we get 1 foot of snow and goes out when we get 1 drop of rain - but never for longer than an hour and never 36 hours.) If I could change Internet providers I would, but I am very limited on my Mountain and so can't do much else. Hughes Net clearly needs to update their equipment and infrastructure to stop these outages from happening (as I already said my Satellite TV stayed on the whole time.)
