Adalbert Berkovits

 

March 16, 1939  - A Jewish Boy, Adalbert Berkovits, was born in Simleul Silvaniei, Romania.

Adalbert was a Son of Eugen and Irina. He had an older Sister - Elly.

The Father was deported to a Slave Labor Camp. He did not survive.

Irina, Elly & Adalbert were deported to Auschwitz in 1944.

Irina and Adalbert were photographed by the SS on the Selection Ramp at Auschwitz II-Birkenau (as part of the Auschwitz Album.) You can see them marked in the photo. They were murdered in a Gas Chamber the same day they arrived.

Only Elly survived.

Had he lived Adalbert would have been 84 years old today. Instead the Germans murdered him when he was 5.
