From the US Army Garrison Italy’s
Facebook Page:
UPDATE March 8, 7:00 p.m.
All employees (Servicemembers, DA
Civilians, and Local National Employees) who reside in the listed red zones to
remain home tomorrow, Monday, 9 March, pending further guidance.
For those residing in the red
zones who are determined mission critical/emergency essential, the USAG-I
command team is drafting an official notice to present to any Italian law
enforcement authorities who may attempt to stop or fine them. The notice is to
permit them to travel from home to work, with the minimum possible social contact
with other people.
For those residing in the red
zones who are not determined mission critical/emergency essential, managers
have authority to grant weather and safety leave SINCE only mission
critical/emergency essential are authorized to report. Those who have the
capacity to telework must implement their telework agreements and work from
home.
Mission Critical/Emergency
Essential determination. Each command is responsible for determining who their
mission critical/emergency essential employees are. Please work with your
supervisors and chain of command if you have questions.
^ The US Army Garrison Italy’s
Facebook Page has been doing a good job informing the US Soldiers, Contractors
and their families as well as the local Italians who work for them, informed on
this often confusing situation. Things seem to change all the time and it’s
good to see the hard work going into answering as many questions as they can –
especially when you consider the US Army has to wait until the Italian
officials do and as this new lock-down shows that isn’t always so organized. Again,
I don’t know how to include the Facebook link here. ^
