Last Thursday we had a bat in our house and it took 3 policemen, from 3 different towns, 3 hours to get it out. I called Modern Pest (a company we have used since we moved here 4 1/2 years ago) that Friday to have them come and make sure there aren't any more bats or holes in, etc. I called them at 10 am and was told the person I needed was at lunch - who eats lunch at 10 am? - and so I left a message. When it was 3 pm and I still hadn't heard back I called again and was told that the woman had "just picked up the other phone" and I should leave another message. I let the person know that if I didn't hear back TODAY from this woman I would take my business elsewhere. About 30 minutes later the woman called me back only to tell me that the guy who handles bats was busy, but he would call me before the end of today. An hour later he did call. He went on and on about how their wildlife program was started just 4 years ago and they didn't have that many people. He said he would call me back next week to set-up a time. I told him not to bother, that I have been a customer for 4 1/2 years and that when I need them they not only make me wait all day for answer, but then won't come and help with my issue. I hung up on him and called the main number again. I told the woman there that I was cancelling all services I have with their company. The woman didn't seem all the intelligent and when she eventually asked me why I wanted to cancel service I told her that it was because of the company's poor customer service and lack of taking care of pests (which is a big deal as they are a pest company.) She couldn't have cared less and told me that she would put in the paperwork and someone would get back to me to finish things. I have since found a wildlife specialist who is coming tomorrow afternoon and have called several regular pest companies and am waiting on them to call me back tomorrow. It is pretty pathetic that Modern Pest (or any company) would treat their loyal customers like they didn't matter. Well, I guess you live and learn and hopefully the new company will be much better.
