As this Monday is Canadian Thanksgiving we wanted to buy a turkey breast and have a smaller version of the traditional holiday dinner. I had been to this butcher once before in the summer to get some ribs and so decided to call them and see if they had a turkey breast. The guy who answered the phone was a complete moron from the very beginning. I asked for a "4 lbs. de-boned turkey breast." He said that they had the turkey breast, but was having "trouble" to understand if I wanted a de-boned or a t-bone turkey breast - I have never heard of a t-bone turkey breast. In the end he said he had one and before I hung the phone up I asked him one more time to clarify that he had a "4 lbs., de-boned turkey breast" and that they would hold it for me. He said "yes." It took us 50 minutes to get there and when I walked in and asked for my order the same guy and some woman said that they thought I wanted a chicken breast and that they had no turkey. What a bunch of complete losers they two people are. Chicken sounds nothing like turkey and anyone working at a butcher shop should know the difference between the two. I was beyond mad at these idiots and really let them know what I thought of them. It amazes me that you always here the phrase "buy locally" and 7 out of 10 times you do and things turn out badly (at least they have since we moved here over 3 years ago.) In the end we went to a near-by supermarket (Hanaford's) that we hadn't really ever been in before. The people at their meat department and their customer service department were very helpful and good and we got everything we needed. Despite, the stupidity of the people at the Wineing Butcher (where I will never go back to again) we will have a good Thanksgiving on Monday.
