Stupid Is Stupid!

I’ve seen a lot of anti-Republicans and anti-Democrats go on and on about who is doing a better job containing Covid-19 in the US as a whole and in their cities or States in general. The fact is NEITHER side is doing that well. There are places where both a hard hit State and City are governed by both Democrats. There are places where both a hard hit State and City are governed by Republicans. There are places where a hard hit State is governed by a mix of Republican and Democratic officials.

Covid-19 has hit hard States and Cities within those States with both a Democratic Governor and a Democratic Mayor:

New York State (Democratic Governor)     New York City (Democratic Mayor)

Illinois (Democratic Governor)      Chicago (Democratic Mayor)

Michigan (Democratic Governor)    Detroit (Democratic Mayor)

New Jersey (Democratic Governor)    Newark (Democratic Mayor)

California (Democratic Governor)     Los Angeles (Democratic Mayor)

Covid-19 has hit hard States and Cities within those States with both a Republican Governor and a Republican Mayor:

Florida (Republican Governor)     Miami (Republican Mayor)

Covid-19 has hit hard States and Cities within those States with a Republican Governor and a Democratic Mayor:

Texas (Republican Governor)      Houston (Democratic Mayor)

Arizona (Republican Governor)     Phoenix (Democratic Mayor)

Georgia (Republican Governor)      Atlanta (Democratic Mayor)

Massachusetts  (Republican Governor)     Boston (Democratic Mayor)

 

The only two Us States that have seen a drop in: hospitalizations, infections and deaths from Covid-19 in the past month are:

Maine (Democratic Governor)

New Hampshire (Republican Governor)

Stupidity doesn’t always depend on what your Political Party is (only sometimes.)

Bottom line is: Stupidity depends on the person – not the Political Party. A Republican can wear a mask and social distance and not get Covid-19 the same way a Democrat can decide not to wear a mask, not social distance and go to a Covid Party trying to get Covid-19 (and vice versa.) In the words of the great Forrest Gump: “Stupid Is As Stupid Does.”
