Victoria Message

From the Governor-General of Canada's Website:
"Victoria Day"

As governor general, I have the distinct honour of serving Canadians as The Queen’s representative in Canada.  In 2017, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating her 91st birthday and the Sapphire Jubilee of her accession to the Throne, becoming the first reigning British monarch to reach this remarkable milestone. We are privileged to have a monarch who, throughout her reign, has lived a life of such abundant selflessness and unwavering commitment to serving others. On this Victoria Day, I would like to convey my sincere appreciation and profound gratitude to our Sovereign for her tireless dedication to all Canadians.

^ The majority of Canadians do not understand the role of the monarchy in Canada or that there is a separate King/Queen of Canada. Victoria Day is the day the Canadian Government recognizes the Queen of Canada. More needs to be done to teach Canadians about their monarch and what she does for them. ^
