From Holocaust Victims’ Instagram:
“Mozes Salbe”
Mozes Salbe was born on August 9,
1926.
He was the son of Jewish Parents Icek Abraham
and Estera.
Mozes was born in Radom, Poland.
The first thirteen years of his life were happy, filled with many sabbath
dinners.
There were 25,000 Jews living in
Radom when the Nazis occupied the city on September 8, 1939.
A month later, Fritz Katzmann was
appointed as the SS Police Leader. After his arrival, a wave of heavy violence
plagued the Jewish community.
Almost all Jewish Leaders were executed
immediately, one even being publicly executed by being hit repeatedly in the
head with a heavy stone.
The Radom Synagogue was raided
and desecrated as worshippers inside were shot and used for Forced Labor.
This was just the cruel
beginning. Mozes and his Family were forced into the Radom Ghetto in the spring
of 1941.
At its peak, the ghetto would
hold 33,000 people.
Starvation was common in the Ghetto,
as was sickness and disease. Mozes and his Family lived at Wrzesniowskiego 34.
The home where he lived still stands. The people who live there now likely do
not know its tragic history.
In the Summer of 1942, the
population of the Radom Ghetto dropped from 33,000 to 2,000.
This was a direct result of many
German “Aktions” (Mass Deportations) to Auschwitz and Treblinka.
Sometime during this time, Mozes
and his Parents were deported and murdered. He was only around Sixteen years
old. He did not deserve this. May his memory be a blessing.
