Yesterday (March 5, 2024) Sweden has
now officially received permission from all 31 NATO Member Countries (after Hungary’s
President signed the bill today.)
Turkey and Hungary were the only
obstacles to Sweden joining NATO because they tend to be pro-Russia rather than
pro-NATO.
Putin said he was fighting in
Ukraine to “stop NATO’s expansion” there and yet because of his War Crimes in
Ukraine Finland ended its 66 year Neutrality and NATO added 830 miles along
Russia’s Border in April 2023.
Before Finland joined there were
5 NATO Member Countries (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Norway) that
shred a border with Russia that was 741 Miles long.
Since April 2023 NATO has 6
Member Countries that share a border with Russia that is 1,581 Miles long.
Sweden, which doesn’t share a
Border with Russia, but is close to it with Neighbors Norway and Finland, ended
it’s 210 year Neutrality Stance (since 1812) because of Putin’s War in Ukraine.
This map does a good job of showing
that Russia is surrounded by NATO on its western land borders (except with
Belarus and Ukraine) and its western water borders.
A Russian warship can’t go from
Saint Petersburg, Russia to Kaliningrad, Russia without going through NATO
Territory (Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland) or to the rest of
the world without passing other NATO Territory (Germany, Sweden and Denmark.)
Russia has a similar issue with
the Black Sea in the south since Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey are NATO
Territory.
The point is that Putin and
Russia miscalculated the US and NATO and are now going to have to pay the
price.
Members of NATO: Albania, Belgium,
Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France,
Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Montenegro,
the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia,
Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States.
