Winter Prep
It may be September 10th, but Winter is coming fast up here
on my northern New England Mountain.
We get our first snow at the end of September to the middle
of October. And in Winter we get down to a Low of -50 F (- 46 C.) On top of
that our dirt, mountain town roads can become impassible due to being washed
away, ice and snow.
I have done my yearly Cold Weather Check of everything:
My Jeep is inspected, my Winter Tires are on and I have
checked my Cold Weather and Emergency Supplies Kit.
I have walked around our Property and checked everything.
The Fall Leaves Clean-Up is scheduled (just waiting for the
leaves to change and then fall.)
The Snow Plowing and Ice Sanding is scheduled (just waiting
on there to be snow and ice.)
The Propane Tank is all set and is completely full.
The Generator was serviced and all set.
I have all the dirt and ice de-melter ready.
I have cleaned and checked all the propane heaters throughout
the house (and run them for a few minutes.)
I have cleaned the fireplace.
I have cleaned the wood stove.
I have checked all the Human Medical Supplies.
I have checked all the Dog Medical Supplies.
I have checked all our Emergency Non-Drinking Water Supplies.
I have checked all our Emergency Drinking Water Supplies.
I have checked all our Non-Perishable Food Supplies
I have checked all our other Emergency Supplies for the
house.
I have taken out, cleaned and organized my Winter Clothes.
I have made all the major appointments needed for September
and October - before the snow and ice come.
I have ordered all the major things that I will need this
Winter and they have been delivered.
I’m now as ready for the Cold, the Ice and the Snow as I can
be.
