A Friend suggested I watch this
so I did. It's about the Horn & Hardart's Automats in Philadelphia and New
York City.
I've used Automat Vending
Machines to get Drinks and Food before (mostly in Europe) but they tended to
not have any place to sit and eat/drink. You were just expected to come in, get
your food/drink and leave.
It's interesting to see how the
Automat in the US helped bring good food/drinks at a cheap price to Millions
from 1902 until the 1970s - including Immigrants who didn't speak English yet,
Minorities who wouldn't be served in other places and Female Secretaries, etc.
that dined on their own (ie without a Man - which many places didn't allow.)
