25 years ago today (November 19,
1997) “Titanic” came out in the US (with nationwide release on December 19,
1997.)
Directed by James Cameron and
starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Kate Winslet. It was nominated for 14 Academy
Awards and won 11 of them (including Best Picture.)
It was made for $100 Million and reached $2.2
Billion at the Box Office (the first film to reach the Billion-Dollar Mark.) It
remained the Highest-Grossing Film of All Time until 2010 (with another James Cameron
Film: “Avatar.”)
This was the perfect movie to go
see on a Date (and I saw it around 8 times in the Theaters) since you already
knew what the ending was and it was over 3 hours long.
